I did not say 90MB or 3MB per day. 189MB over 30 days is about 6.3 MB per day. And I said about 3 hours but not always. Who said anything about websites? I could be talking about wap sites? or using opera for low data consumption?
So wap sites use less data? How do you find/determine if a page is wap or not? I read prev in this thread that if it doesn't have the cursor present, then it is a wap page.....but then how do you navigate without a cursor? |

No cause it compresses the data so each page is only a few kb , unless your downloading stuff with it.
Full html browsers the pages are the same size as on your pc. |

WAP was the phone networks early conception of data useage & was advertised as the 'the web on your phone' truth be told it was quite limited as websites had to provide a wap site as well which is/was more or less their normal website as viewed on a computer without all the bells & whistles.
This failed to take off as people soon discovered a page they were trying to visit/view on thier phone would quite often be missing a majority of the regular information they were used to. (also data prices etc were still quite high back then)

nowadays WAP is hardly used or advertised as full internet browsing is more than caperble on most handsets. |

Just to update on my situation.
I decided to keep my new upgrade and so started to surf and log my usage.
Surfed the other night for close to two hours by using both built in n82 browser and Opera. I visited various (full graphics) sites, watched a 3min news video, used nokia maps and only got through 8MB after all that!! Until now I never really though about how much data a single web pages usings, but its a LOT less than first imagined.
Since then I've streamed a tune via last.fm of which took 2mb so its clear I will have to watch my music streaming, something of which I was really looking forward to using without the worry of going over data limits.
Having said that, I've weight up the pro's and cons and the pro's win easy. Main pro being price. After I sell my upgrade phone my monthly contract in effect will be costing me just £3.33!!!
In conclusion (for any future newbies to this threat) IF all you really want to do surf the web and occasionally stream or download a few tunes here and there, the O2 'unlimited' limit of 250MB should be fine.
Thanks for all your help guys, and special thanks to Alpha Trion as your break down of your own usage (which is very similar to my own projected use) was the deciding factor.

Happy browsing on what truely is an excellent phone by the way. & going by what you've just posted you should be fine even IF the O2 limit is 250mb as 31 days a month say, over 250mb = 8.06mb a month. 
Just curious, how come your selling the XM5800? not a fan of touchscreens? cause i'd have thought the same internet caperbilities as the N82 on a larger screen would've suited your needs perfectly? actually let me guess, camera + xenon? |

You guess it! I'd love a touchscreen phone, but until one comes out with a DECENT flash, then I will hold fire (as I do with all my upgrades). Can't understand why companies do so much in order to increase the megapixel count on all the latest phones and then slap a L.E.D flash on it! What a waste. |
