02 Mobile Web is for the faster internet access speed. O2 postpay wap and O2 gprs wap, is mainly for wap pages only and is slower than O2 Mobile web. But if you are looking at using faster internet speed it will be O2 mobile web. None of them options you showed are for mms, mms should already be set up for you.

Thanks good to know Alpha. Your monthly usage compares quite well with my own predicted usage, so I SHOULD be ok.

Think I'll stick with what I have now and HOPEFULLY I will be ok. No doubt I will hit or come close to the limit in the first month through excitement of FINNALY having net access on my mobile but that should calm down from then on. My last tariff was so old (genie) that I couldn't even send picture messages so this will be a whole new world for me.

What settings do I use please as I have a number of them on my phone....

02 GPRS WAP
02 Mobile Web
02 Postpay Wap

....and whats the difference between them?

I have postpay MMS but do you recommend I use mobile web MMS and if so what are the settings please?

Also, why do O2 send the postpay settings when 02 mobile is faster?

Dupfold, if i remember correctly you are using the c905? What to do is, under: Menu, then messaging, select settings, then go to Picture Message, then scroll down to MMS Profile, then select edit, then you should see MMS Profile or O2 PM Profile, or MMS postpay. pick the relevant option you feel right and then select it. Your phone should be set up with MMS, you also mentioned you had a genie contract, need to establish if you have a 3G Sim or a non 3G sim, if you take your sim card out and read the number on the back, it should start with 89441 near the end of the long number on the sim it should say something like 3GD and then some letter or possible number after that. If you don't have 3G written in that long number on the back of the SIM, you are best going into an O2 store with some ID and asking them for a 3G contract sim. They will give you this FOC and then call o2 to activate it. If you already have a 3G sim then you do not need to do this. (but back up your numbers on your sim before you activate new sim). You need a 3G sim card to get the higher faster internet speed.

O2 provides 2 access points : O2 WAP or Postpay WAP and O2 Mobile Web. Because certain parts of O2 active is only available through O2 WAP, such as O2 chat. however O2 Mobile Web is available for those who don't want to use simple wap pages and just want to use the full internet at a higher speed. Some people like 2 use both settings, depending what they want to see on the internet.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Miyagi, but I have a N82....plus already have a 3G sim.

I know how to enter the settings etc, just wondering should use 02 postpay MMS or O2 Mobile Web MMS and if the later, what are the settings I need to use.

With regards to WAP vis full internet, why would anyone want to use WAP and how do you determine if a page is either WAP or normal HTML?

Ive got a n82. If the page your on is an html or xhtml page itl use a curser. If its a wap page it wont. As for settings i used payandgo.o2.co.uk access point. Although it didnt seem to work with a few apps including mobitubia. I used the mobile web access point with that. Thats on payandgo btw

That is a really low limit if it is true .

I have an old Web'n'Walk max plan on T mobile with 10 GB pm, including modem and VOIP use for £11.25, normal price is £22.50, or £12.50 for 3 GB with no VOIP. (Plus Flext 35 for £17.50, never cancelling this tariff).

And also the payg 3 sim with 6 months for £20 in my old phone with 2 GB per month.

I'm up to 3.06GB on my £5/month mobile internet 3UK sim and didn't receive a warning text when I approached the 3GB mark.

Show offs!!! lol

Is there anyone here now, who is on a O2 contract with 'unlimited' net who can actually look at there mobile data usage and see that they have exceeded the limit of 250MB for the month/prev month?

Has anyone tried complaining to 02 about the monthly limit and no modem use?

Actually, it doesnt matter too much because they also give normal broadband, so you can just get your mobile tariff plus normal broadband, on T mobile / 3, we cant get broadband .

I use my familys sky broadband, but if I ever move out then I just have to use my phone because I dont want sky or a landline, just mobile phone plus internet.

O2 do cover you with cheap broadband, no idea how good it is but Im sure its fine for daily use.

When I exceeded my T mobile allowance (downloaded WoW and Lotro with it lol), I never got a warning text, just an email telling me to reduce usage.

What T mobile do for going over the allowance is:

Exceed it for 1 month - just a warning

Exceed for 2 months - warning plus 2 weeks of speed being capped to 64 kbps.

3 months exceeded - permanently reduced to 64 kbps.

The months have to be consecutive though, so if you exceed it every other month, all you get is warnings. Also, it is pretty hard, and stupid to exceed it for a third month because you are crippled for two weeks and should know to cool off your use for the last two weeks.

I got two consecutive months for the game downloads, so stopped downloading but could somehow still run the MMOs, and Ive been fine since then.

I have O2 unlimited and to be honest. I would say I spend about 3 hours a day atleast on the internet. I don't really watch video's etc, but over a month i find my usage is about 189MB.

U spend 3 hours a day browsing and only use 3mb per day? That would be a tad optimistic that you would use only 1mb per hour especialy using web sites

How is 3 hours per day only 3MB per day? How did you work that out? if it was 3MB per day over 30 days that is 90MB.

I did not say 90MB or 3MB per day. 189MB over 30 days is about 6.3 MB per day. And I said about 3 hours but not always. Who said anything about websites? I could be talking about wap sites? or using opera for low data consumption?
