Just seen this in Daily Mirror today advertised. I also popped into Carphonewarehouse today and asked them if they were doing the same. The assistant was not even aware O2 were doing it. Though he said they will probably follow suit.

They are, it's the same places that sell the current iPhone that will be selling it on pay as you go too (same stock, just bundeled with a different sim).

you what? I didn't think this was allowed, after the 18months the phone is yours to do as and what with you want, and if you want to get it unlocked surely you are able to? I don't get how they can monopolise the market on it?

thats what I was told by 2 customer support people and 1 supervisor

I don't know if they'd get away with it either but they said they don't even have a procedure to get an unlock code for an iphone

I haven't got around to checking with Apple yet as to what their position is on this but I suspect they'd just pass the buck back to the network as any manufacturer would
