Une quinzaine de mobiles et smartphones verront ainsi le jour dans le courant de cette année mais tous ont déjà été annoncés ces six derniers mois à l'occasion de communiqués de presse ou de différents salons internationaux
Which translates into:
About 15 handsets and smartphones will see the light of day in the course of the year but all have already been announced during the past 6 months through press conferences or various international shows.
Personally, I quite doubt that as well, sounds like the journalist mis-interpreted the message in the press conference. I was just citing the source, thinking it would trigger some discussion, and it did !!

quite impossible for SE not to release new handsets. there are still quite many phones thet doesn't have a clone..... lol

But remember, the K810 was a facelift of K800m which was announced in 2006 february, so a year after the K800. Everyone was waiting the flagsip of 2007 to be announced in february but that was only a facelift. I think the flagship for this year will not be announced more sooner than the k850 last year. But after the delayed announcement of K850 it's quite hard to follow SE's polotics in this domain. |

It seems quite clear that the C902 is indeed the facelifted K850.i.e, what the k810 was tothe k800.
The 2008 Cybershot model to replace K850 will surely be announced at earliest, after May, when the C902 hits the shops.
Everyone will speculate that it will be announced before this, but at the end of the day, it won't. The turnaround time between flagship models is slowly getting greater and greater, the k700 hit the shelves earlier in the year than the k750 did the following year, and then the k800 was even later, and finally, last year, the k850 did get out till late september/october. The announcement in turn gets pushed back every year.
Im expecting mayb June/July for announcment this year. Sorry guys.

Nobody downgrades a facelift, and it seems to me that the C902's 'photo flash' is a downgrade. No matter how much people say it performs like a real flash, I just don't see it outperforming an actual flash in terms of brightness. Plus I don't think they can fit the rest of the K850i's hardware into that slim body.
I can't agree that it is a K850i facelift, because a facelift would have the same features, just different appearance (eg. K800i to K810i was almost solely cosmetic save a few very minor additions). The C902 is to me a different line completely.

Well with the movement from K Line to C Line there was bount to be changes.
To me, the photo flash doesen't indicate a downgrade at all. Maybe a little bit of performance has been lost, power wise, but the ability to use the the photo flash for all 9 shots of the best pic feature now is surely an upgrade.
I don't beleive they'll be bringing out another minor upgrade model to act as a facelifte k850. I no the form factor has changed to a much slimer model, but equipment wise, the C902 fits the bill as the 'Early in the year, keep people happy with a slightly upgraded phone' untill the next flagship Cybershot comes out.

@arj2442: Yeah I guess you're right. And the light can be used for video too. I just wonder if the performance in terms of camera quality will be even up to K850i standard with such a slim body. I guess we have to wait and see.
