So is the Z8 font (aka Rastapopoulos) the best one then? [addsig]

I have a problem with my motorola fonts installed on my p1i. There seems to be some characters missing on the onscreen keyboard (enter,shift...) Any suggestions/solution?

... thus proving that the fonts are simply loaded into phone memory only during initial boot-up of phone.

Yes, that sounds right.

er.. It doesn't look like the rom- drive is changed when you mirror the files, either - so (guessing more than usual here) it seems the drive is just read into ram on startup, unless there's some resource with precedence somewhere, like the mem-stick(who knows why that is..). And - if that's correct, the ram- use would be the same as before.

@grizlore: ..that could work. Anyone checked if you still get italic and bold text and so on if you copy the ttf files like that?

@Jojo - it's explained on the first page.

@all - definitely the Z8 font It's nice and working very well on my W960, however there are a few very minor problems with special characters.

If fonts are read into main memory on startup and then never referenced from the memory card, why doesn't the phone allow deleting the motorola z8 fonts folder from built in file manager? I think there's more to it...Anyway is there some way to add the missing characters to the z8 fonts?

Because once you've booted up with the fonts, the phone will use them, and you won't be able to delete them. Pull out the memory card or put it in fast transfer with a USB cable and delete them on the computer. Do a fresh reboot.

How would you compare the Z8 font with the P1 default font?

@perza, I've got that problem as well. Maybe it's a localized problem.

Yes - I have this problem also. Anyone know how to get these added in?

I used the Z8 fonts link from AbuBasim on page 1 of this thread - have the Z8 fonts in ares's link got same problem?

@perza: could be a standard convention - that anything marked system- files are locked after they're referenced. After all, the fonts won't turn back after you remove the mem- card, or restart programs after you picked out the card.

Hi
I have a P1 with last fw, and after placing the files on the M2 and rebooting, the phone restarted about 4 times one after another to improve performance. This is normal right?
I never had my P1 do that.
Anyway, the Z8 fonts look good, simliar to Impact font on Windows.
Cool
Thanks everyone for making these available
