you didn't mention the battery!
just look at the battery and you will see that SE has a BIG advantage.

Nokia N82:
Battery Standard battery, Li-Ion 1050 mAh (BP-6MT)
Stand-by Up to 225 h
Talk time Up to 4 h 20 min

Sony Ericsson K850:
Battery Standard battery, Li-Po 930 mAh (BST-38)
Stand-by Up to 400 h
Talk time Up to 9 h

So, i'd rather have K850i, than N82.
not just beacuse of the battery, but to me looks nicer, i think it has a better camera...

I never go by those stats, have a look at the T610 battery stats, talktime 16 hours it was good but I never got 16 hours.

I agree, I still find SE, the best mobile phone company, I mean they brought us K750i, so we know they can do great things. But I have to say that this time I'm considering N82, and my last Nokia phone was 3100.

that doesn't explain why SE is selling its new k850 at 100$ more than the K800 when it was out,it doesn't have GPS nor WIFI

Hi all,

Well really i think Alpha Trion summed it up perfectly although in my case is preaching to the converted.

Yes Ericsson and then SE USED to make class leading devices but the problem is over the last year or so this is no longer true. I really don't know what has happened but some one at SE really needs to get on top of the situation and fast. It appears a lot of the things i have been saying and getting attacked for saying are now becoming more apparent to others to.

There is nothing wrong with Brand loyalty and having a favourite manfactuer but not when it is to your detriment, that just makes no sense.
Nearly everyone on this Forum initially came here due to their love of Ericsson and SE devices but just look at how many have now switched to devices from other manufacturers and that tells you things aren't right. Also just look at nearly every newly launched SE phone of late and the problems they have plus how long it takes SE to release new firmware that actually fixes them, is it any wonder people are dissatisfied with their expensive new devices and feel let down?

Marc

None of this should come as a surpirse. I recall psoting the following article on Esato almost 3 years ago:

"Sony Ericsson to expand range

19 January 2005, mad.co.uk
By Tom Reed
Mobile phone manufacturer Sony Ericsson is set to extend the range of products it offers with a specific focus on the cheaper end of the market.
The company, which is the sixth largest in the sector in the world, unveiled its plans as it reported strong fourth quarter results for 2004.
The move will see competition at the budget end of the mobile phone sector get even more fierce, with both Siemens and Nokia scrapping for an increase in market share.
It is understood that Sony Ericsson gained extra confidence from the success of its third generation (3G) phones, which have proved to be popular. The company believes that, by the end of next year, worldwide sales of its 3G handsets will double and take about ten per cent of the market share.
Targeting the lower end of the mobile phone market marks a change in direction for the company, as it had based its previous success on handsets with cameras that had been aimed at the mid and top end of the sector. "

I think its time we accpeted that the SE of old no longer exists. That doiesn't mean its any less successful, just that its focus has changed.

Maybe sticking my neck on the line here, but I reckon if laffen was setting up Esaot today, it would be focused on Nokia or HTC.

...Luckily, I don't really care. For me its always been about the phone, not the brand.

Damn, I was just blowing off some steam. This thing is already three pages long.

And yes, this is exactly what this thread was about, whining! Just dissapointed with SE is all.

Funny, this could all have been avoided (for me at least) with just a light in the W910! Heh. I'm still sticking to my W850i for now, one of the best phones aside from missing auto-focus.

I do own an n73, but something about SEs makes me addicted.

I see it this way. I'll wait to see if SE comes out with any products that fit my needs: 3G/850/quad all other bands. Remember I'm in USA with AT&T. A nice auto-focus camera with led light feature. WIFI not needed, but would be nice.

I can only hope that they will come out with something like this in the future, if not by that time the N82's price will come down, or the K850 version II will be fixed.

We'll see, W850 does its job for now. Using internet on GPRS is quite annoying though. But at least acceptable. Better than none eh?

For now I wait. . . .

Haven't used a Nokia since a 3930 or something like that (which was an upgrade from a 5160i)... but the N95 8GB is VERY appealing.

The peak of my SE experience was the P900... I had such high hopes for the P990 and wasn't entirely disapoined... never could get over the 5D jog dial not making it though... I loved the one handed navigation so much with 900...
