Well after the release of the N82, its just what might push me over the edge to go Nokia. I love SEs, but man lately too many problems.

I still love my W850i to death, but the lack of at least EDGE support here stateside hurts. The Nokia N82 looks a bit like an SE phone and has tons of features.

Will wait until its released and I hope SE gets its act together.

Me too mate!
I have SE phones since the T68 and never though of returning to nokia BUT this year SE has been very very deceiving, they have postponed the release of the K850 for 4 months and this phone is much more expensive than the K series has always been,it has many problems and a horrible design!
The W910 is a very looking phone but with a walkman camera that didn't change since the W850 and a havana color that has been ''prostituted'' for one and unique telephone server...
While Nokia is releasing overall very nice phones for a very acceptable price like the 6500 slide and load of other phones like express music,n81,n82,N95 8gb....
+ we still don't have officially K850(800$ black market) nor W910,and SE here will not have them before Christmas!!! my God even the Americans will have them before us...So sorry SE but I will give Nokia a try for this time

You should at least document yourself and quit posting complains just because...
Who cares about EDGE if you have HSDPA available in K850i?!?!??

C'mon...

Here you go
EDGE:
«EDGE can carry data speeds up to 236.8 kbit/s for 4 timeslots (theoretical maximum is 473.6 kbit/s for 8 timeslots)»
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/[....]d_Data_Rates_for_GSM_Evolution

HSDPA:
«With 5 Code allocation, QPSK typically offers up to 1.8 Mbit/s peak data rates, while 16QAM up to 3.6. Additional codes (e.g. 10, 15) can also be used to improve these data rates or extend the network capacity throughput significantly. Theoretically, HSDPA can give throughput up to 14.4 Mbit/s.»

while the technical specs you post are correct, people who live in areas that have EDGE available and not 3g/HSDPA will obviously care about this issue.

The original poster mentions he is in the US where 3g/HSDPA is still growing but EDGE is just about everywhere

@ Krubach

Why do all these phones still have GPRS?
I mean like you say we have HSDPA, we dont need Edge or GPRS.
Sms's will be sent faster MMS's will be sent faster with HSDPA even Ussd!!

So why do we still have GPRS in phones?

Ahhh its a default data carrier!!

Another example, if the autobahn(hsdpa) is closed why do we now need to sit in stop and go traffic(gprs) when theres a free flowing highway(edge) available.... oh wait thats only for Nokio users.

As for the the SE debate.... as far as candy bar phones go....

the N82 is offering "me" more!!
Wifi
GPS
PTT
TV out
and 4 times more memory....

edge is important, still... u dont have hsdpa everywhere ( not even 3g ) mostly in the countryside. for example here in austria, in the hills, edge is more then useful, cos no other coverage over 1500 m. same to hungary, where in certain aparts of the country still edge is only given. so edge is a must still imo

Hi guys

After reading countless posts about SE vs Nokia vs Samsung etc "SE is better because of this", "Nokia are worse because of that" etc etc people should realise that in this day & age IT DOES NOT PAY TO BE A LOYAL CONSUMER TO ONE PARTICULAR BRAND. Yes maybe we've all had particular issues (good & band) with a certain brand (phones & other products) & swore that we wouldn't go back to using that service/product/phone etc. But surely as a consumer we buy what we need, to suit our needs at that particular time.
For instance i've owned samsungs, nokia's, SE's (even motorola's!!) & at no point did the brand come into. I owned these phones because that particular model offered me the best camera/specs/size/weight/useful features etc that was on the market within my budget at that particular time, (well maybe not the motorola!).
Well I guess what i'm trying to say is "shop around", don't neglect a Nokia phone that may tick all your needs purely because its a Nokia & end up with an inferior SE model purely cause its "SE" (or vice versa).
At the end of the day you're only screwing yourself over.
