It all lies where your brand loyalty lies, dont worry SE will get its act together.......

so till se gets it's act together one should waste his/her hard earned money over crappy phones all in the name of brand loyalty??? [addsig]

I don't think SE makes all that terrible phones like some people here make them out to be. Everyone brand has its plus and minus, and different product design philosophy. I'm always on the lookout for new interesting phones, that are properly designed and thought through, and will always gravitate back towards SE.

I've used various Nokia phones, even currently, and absolutely do not like the way the menus are arranged, and find it really arduous to use. SE, on the other hand, seems more logical. I've played around with Windows Mobile since the CE and PPC days, and love its power and flexibility, but it just seems messy sometimes compared to Nokia and SE.

I don't think SE has lost the plot yet, and do expect more good things to come from it.

If you're into P1i then you should consider X1. At least it's one of those moments where SE proved they didn't blew it (all the time).

@gtr83

I suppose XPERIA is based on Windows CE operating system and do not know the music capabilities & memory expandability of this phone yet which will be a must for me to shift. For the moment, P1i does everything i wished. I suppose from what ive read, P5i is poised to be a super smart phone. SE has not yet indicated their firm plan to launch this phone. Another major upgrade in new generation phones will be a 16 to 32 gig internal or external memory capability and much faster processor.

P5i is not going to be a ´big´ smartphone if its based on uiq. UIQ´s going to die and it´s no secret. The problem is that as uiq fades so does ´s ´uniqueness´. WM is everywhere. There´s nothing special or unique about a device that runs WM, for example you might as well get a HTC phone which will cost a fraction of X1 and have pretty much the same features. is going the wrong way. Their high end line is becoming ´common´ as their mid/low end line is too god damn repetitive and boring. I see no real successful future for . They have nothing revolutionary or groundbraking. They are living on a name they created years ago. It´s a shame. I wont say anything else, its enough.

I just visited a mobile expo and guess what? It's a bit crazy but the launch price of X1 in my country is IDR 6,000,000. Convert that to US dollars and with the current rate its price would be US$ 545, give or take a few cents.

Is this a fluke? But what I do know is that for the last few years, the price of SE phones have always been cheaper (for about 10-20%) in my country. And 90% of phones sold in my country are of course SIM-free! Madness!

What is wrong with that? It's the X1 Xperia, it isnt supposed to be a cheap handset. It costs £499 in the UK, convert that to $ = almost double what you would be paying.

The only time the have messed up is with the K850i, other then that, their handsets are great.

Not everyone is looking for the most expensive top of the range phone available, some like cheaper alternatives and 's mid range phones are very well specified for the prices.

My K850i is horrible, but that doesnt mean that the T700i and G705u will be as well.

Agreed, the K850i was the only blip in SE's recent range, the G,C, and X1 are all quite decent and class competitive.
I think SE are pointing in the right direction

@Bhavv
That's exactly what I was trying to say: don't you think the price of X1 in my country is way TOO CHEAP? Suspicious I'd think!
I'm used to seeing SE prices in my country 10-20% cheaper compared to European prices but not 50%, especially for a flagship device like this one.

But come to think of it, since the phones are manufactured in Taiwan, lower shipping costs may have a thing to do with such a low price...

Oh sorry, I thought you were saying it is too expensive. Now how much is a plane ticket to Indonesia? lol. Only problem is, as I recently found out, wont cover the asian phones by their warranty in Europe.

I really would like an X1, but it is too expensive for me. The two phones I am planning on getting do everything I need anyway. Just have my fingers crossed that G705u will be free on my contract. The last 5 years all I got were every K series phone on contract starting from K700 onwards. K700
and K850I were free, the two in between were £50 and £60 on £20-30 per month contracts. The only phone I have ever had so many problems with was the K850I, so I sell it once it comes back from repairs and thats why I bought a T700 to replace it.

That's right, for that SE Indonesia gives out a local warranty, which lasts for just 1 year. A bit crappy actually. Are you sure it's safe enough now to travel to my country?

they are, but only just. they need to be careful they don't end up fizzling out like motorola. nokia handsets may have all the bells & whistles (in the upper range) but still a bit soul-less with less sense of ID & style than SE.

i'm woried that SE will push phones like W890i too much which are almost like proof-of-concept show room models, & end up with 'style' phones like motorola which may fail. they just need to keep their eye on the ball, imo.

I think that is caused by the overuse of plastic

It was tough in 07-08, but Dick Komiyama seems to have a good sense of what consumers want, better than Miles Flint anyways. Cutting the handset range and upping the specs is a definite step foward. 3.5mm seems to be finally coming, just need that VGA recording now.

And i'm in Portugal and EDGE has little/no support here, HSDPA has much better coverage with all 3 networks supporting up-to 7.2 Mbps. So i say again: "Who cares about EDGE!"

If i'm in an area (mainly coutryside) where i don't have HSDPA available, i just go with GPRS...

Alot of people care, the world is much bigger than portugal! lol

kinda took that as an offence, but trust me alot of carriers are still migrating over to these services. Just because the carriers in your country have HSDPA dosent mean EDGE should be removed in the rest of the world.
