Now that I know my way around my N95 8GB, (and forgetting SE), I'm becoming devoted to it. Still 2 pending issues:
- When I swicht on (rarelly, I keep it always on) and go to the main menu it freezes for about 10 seconds before accepting further instructions. After that, it resumes normal working conditions.
- The bar code reader (really I don't need it, but once it's there...). I'm not able to read a single bar code, even after reading the almost inexisting instructions to it. The camera focuses the bar code, but nething happens.
Do any of you have any experience with any of these 2 issues? |

Not sure why you are getting any delay on going to the Main Menu is yours branded or not as mine is instantaneous once it is started and at the Home screen.
The other problem you are having is it is not a Bar Code reader it is a 3d QR reader follow this link to a QR code generator to create your own
http://qrcode.kaywa.com/
To use it start the Bar code app and hold the code in focus whilst it scans and then it gives you read out. I was going to load one up but it is a png and if i covert it to a jpeg it doesn't read. But experiment at the above link and you will see how it works.

Does anyone here know how to set N95-8 to end a call automatically when the slider closed?
Does anyone know how to input a voice tag on the contact name so just by saying the name it will auto dial (like SE dumbphones)?

No you can't do that.

N95 comes with independent voice dialing - meaning you dont need to waste your time enter voice tag. Just long press the right key to activate voice dial. Speak the name and it will match it for you.

1) Darn.. That's one more S60 weakness to me. However I understand nothing is perfect so I accept it. Please do not prolong this.
2) No, I dont mean the default application the default voice cos it cannot get it right. I mean how to customize voice tag to contact name. For example: I have mib1800 on my contact list. Instead of searching for the name, I just press the button on my bluetooth and speak: mib-one. It will dial your number automatically. Is this customizable in N95? I get so used to this function on my SE dumbphones and like it very much. So if you know please let me know. Thanks

That's not a weakness of S60 . It is just related to N95 constraint. Call comes in, you answer call then you do something like viewing your photo. Then you want to change to landscape orientation and you slide your keypad to media buttons...oops your call is hanged-up!!!.

No customise tag as far as I know. Voice recognition will not work in the case you mentioned. |

1) You have a point there . However I dont usually meddle with my phones during conversation. I wish it has an option for such cos I get used to end call by sliding off. If forgotten to manually end than it keeps the connection on. Imagine if it were an expensive overseas calls.
2) Darn... another limitation of S60? Forcing everyone to accept one std is not very smart of Nokia
Thanks anyway for anwering it. Appreciate it.

Phone will auto-hang up when the other party hangs up.

But it simplifies for you when you have hundreds of contacts. Most manufacturers are offering independent voice dialing except SE. (Welcome to the dark ages!! )

I agree with Mib on the Voice dialling as when you train it to how you speak the slightest variation and it doesn't work including even a noisy background. The Nokia implementation IMO works better and doesn't require storing a tag for each name and then having to repeat the whole procedure when you update the device. Personally i just don't use this feature at all but i suppose you just can't please everyone always.
As for ending the call when the slider closes is it really that hard to touch the Red end call button at the same time?
