now SE is really starting 2 piss me off, if wat sharilon says is true, that they canceled it cause the k850 was delayed then SE is just shooting themselves in the foot. now i hope the p5 has the rumored specs cause its the only way i think that SE will be able 2 prove themselvs again |

Plankgatan's source has said earlier that there is a development ongoing already for K850' successor. and it seems like the rumored specs are 7.2mp sensor and an optical zoom lens

Its not a K850i front. It is far too square. See:
The K850i is a lot rounder on the top and bottom.
If you ask me, I think this phone case looks like the "K860i" in this image:
Compare for yourselves.
Yes, I know that the 3rd image is obviously a very cheap photoshop or MS Paint image and it is widely considered a fake. But maybe the person who drew it was making quick drawings on their computer to show what these phones are going to look like? Perhaps they had seen future SE prototypes and designs? The "K860i" drawing, as they have named it, does really look like the case image shown in this thread.
You guys are about to prove me wrong though!

They were probably just looking at the keypad area and the d-pad which is exactly the same as the K850's. |

From what i understand, there may be anoucement some time in Feb 2008 for the replacement of the K85.i. However when they anounce it it wont hit the shops for a further 6 months. So you will get at least a good year of the K850i yet.
The replacement i would think will be possible 7mb with optical zoom as SE have just released a optical zoom phone in Japan last month and we are normaly about 1 year behind japan with phones. |

The keypad area is not exactly the same. The K850i is one solid piece around all the buttons, while the case we see in these pictures has another piece of plastic which surrounds the D-pad and screen.

I guess we expect the successor to k850 to have optical zoom. It better have that or SE's competition leaves them years behind.
I see it this way:
K750 = K850
from 2 MP it is upgraded to 3.2 MP with xenon flash
K800 = ????
5 MP = 7 MP with 3x optical zoom

What is 3x optical zoom when nikoas N98 comes witch 5x in a smartphone koncept. I think the spec on P5 must be more like Noka N98, otherwise SE will get even more behind.

@charlieef
Nokia N98 is just a concept...
besides.. even fitting a 3x optical is hard to put into a candybar
forget about the 5x...
and slim optical zoom is a sony invention as you can see in most of their cybershot t-series and the newly announced SO905ics for japan. |

I don't believe 5x is necessary. I mean, most proper digital cameras these days still have limited optical zoom. A lot of them just have 3x optical zoom. I don't believe the race to have the best camera in a mobile phone is going to go so far that mobile phones will have cameras to rival digital SLR cameras.
I honestly think 3x is easily enough and any more is over-doing it. If you need more than that, you really should look for a professional photography device rather than a mobile phone.
