Upcoming Sony Ericsson Phone with 3x Optical Zoom? |

Is Sony Ericsson integrating an optical zoom lens into its cyber-shot? A chinese website has posted a phone casing of the cyber-shot branded Sony Ericsson mobile phone. The back of the phone casing is showing a camera protection case with 3x optical zoom wording printed on it.
While implementing a 3x optical zoom on a mobile phone is not a new invention, this phone casing seems to be too slim to fit in the 3x optical zoom lens. :s12:

believed to be an old photoshop matey, but there was some info bout it bein a cancelled model........ posted a while back in other threads!

That is NOT a photoshop guys! I think everybody can see this. If it would have been somehow faked then it was rendered in a 3d program. The shades and everything are too good for a regular photoshop but a real good pro might do it to. Still, I highly doubt that a photoshop and I remember somebody saying on the other thread that this was a canceled model. |

I think nobody thinks the casing is a photoshop, only the "3x optical zoom" & maybe the "Cybershot", hence the artifacts.

I wouldnt say thats a photoshop either. If you look closely the blurry/pixelated areas occur only on white or very bright spots of the picture. That happens mostly when you compress the picture too much. Since the casing is in mostly one color or few almost same colors it seems smoother than the rest of it.
BTW I think there is a samsung 5mp phone with optical zoom fitted in a small space, sort of like this casing |

not at all .
those pixels around the 3x optical zoom are the result of the jpeg compression...
it may be from a cancelled model intended to be k850 or k860.
but as i seen a catalouge in a picture in this forum which shows the SE intentions for the future. it clearly says:
new optical zoom techniqes
camcorder
more mega pixels and much more
so at least the slim optical zoom camera phone definitly exist and could be announced in near future. |

You're right. It's just JPEG compression - obvious signs of it.
And anyway, it's already been confirmed as cancelled:
