N95 today(should I buy one) |

I was waiting for the SE K850,but it seems that it's far more expensive than the N95 in my country(Lebanon) K850=800$ N95=570$
Those two whithout warranty
So my question is should I buy a N95 or wait 1 or 2 months so the K850 price would drop to +- 500$ ?
The new N95(but not 8gb) are better made like for the slider than 6 months ago? is the battery life better too? any factory improvements?

the k850 is already just a bit over $500usd, well for me any way. look online, will get it much cheaper than $800. For example, off ebay, many sellers provide a 1 yr warranty. which you return the phone to them.... OR you can try other sites like PhoneSourceUSA, Smart Mobile Gadgets etc...
how ever, if you dont like to buy online, go for the n95 then if its that much cheaper. The k850i will drop to that price in your country within a 1month or 2 though........ choose the one which suits your needs best!

it sounds like you haven't read any of the many many N95 discussions here on Esato!
The N95 is known for being loose and wobbling on its slider but there is also a fix you can do yourself
there have also been numerous battery threads such as N95 battery life (buy p1i as a result?) and snice people are not so happy with the battery life they are askign will n95 8 gb battery fit n95? (it won't)
but then you can go to SE discussion forum and see lots of unhappy people with K850 for reasons of creaking housings, the new joypad/touch buttons etc etc.
I think there is enough on here for you to make your own mind up that most phones have some compromises/issues to be resolved/things to get used to etc
I'm guessing that if you are considering K850 that GPS and wifi are not as much a concern as money but you can be sure that both prices will come down quickly, for N95 now that the 8gb is out and the K850 because it was overpriced in the first place

Thanks man!
So in conclusion : no improvements on the slider build quality between the first produced N95 and the newest ones, right?

Not every N95 has problems some did some didn't go look around the Forum and you will see many people were and are very happy with their N95's. But you will also see some that were not happy with them as well, like wise read the reports for the K850 and their are many happy owners but then their are also many disappointed ones to.
If you can check out the N95 prior to purchase and check it that would resolve the issue as you could just make sure the slider is perfect prior to purchase.

Wow that seems like a hell of a lot less for one then most places does Aus always have such good prices?

Initial reports do seem to confirm that the slider and general build quality on the new N95 8gb is better than the original N95. |

@Scoobyd:
Yes, this is why the price of the original N95 is drastically dropping now.
But the OP is considering the now "old", and thus cheap N95.

the answer depends on your needs imo. i would wait a bit and go for n95 8gb, cos a symbian os has far more possibilities to offer, then k850. but if u prefer fun features like making pix, music etc, go for the k850. n95 has a great music player and amazing multimedia features, but the cam quality is very poor imo

Why wait? Go for the N95 now. The k850 is inferior to N95 in ALL aspects except battery life. Even the cybershot sticker failed as K850 produce worse picture than N95 with its washed out, blurry, noisy and unnatural colored pictures. And with the many reported bugs plaguing the K850 now, it is just a very bad buy option compared to N95. |

Do some more research on photos before taking mibs advice. In my observations, K850 is slightly better than N95 in overall camera performance.
This is something you have to check out for yourself rather than take mib's or my word on it. There are a massive number of both K850 and N95 phtos available to check out.
In all other respects I agree with what mib has said - if you like the look of the N95, the Nokia UI, and the better feature set, and don't mind poor battery performance, go the N95.

K850 pics washed out huh?
take a look at this:
K850
N95-3
is that what you call washed out?
i think you should also consult plankgatan regarding the proper use of camera instead of relying with GSMArena's weak review of K850's camera - how dare them comparing a prototype with a month old released N95?
And with the many reported bugs plaguing the K850 now, it is just a very bad buy option compared to N95.
hey is N95 stable in it's early released? don't it have bugs? or doesn't it got memory errors etc? i guess it will just take some time and K850 firmware will be as stable as it's predecessors K750 and K800 did

I hope you didn't buy a N95 yesterday, I think you will be disappointed. I bought one just after they came out in the States. I kept it for about 4 weeks before selling it at a market here in Moscow. The only thing I liked about the phone was the concept.
Once I got lost here so I took my GPS enabled N95 out to see where I was, after 20 minutes of standing around with my N95 in my hand (not advisable in Moscow) I switched it of as I could get a satellite fix even with clear visible sky (maybe the GPS problem has been resolved?)
Can't advise on the K850 still got my K810 but thinking of a P1i.

imo tha battery life is one of the most important issue at a fone like n95, which offers so many features, so the n95 8gb would be a better option imo
