read about this on Webuser site last night and got worried, but our Nokia battery is a BL-4C (Nokia 6300).

whew the battery of my 6682 is not included in defective batch. it's good that nokia took the heat for that incident even though they did not make the batteries themselves.
there are companies even if it is proven and they know that their products are defective doesn't give a hoot and don't issue a recall.

how comes, that nokia recognized it just right now? and everybody can walk in at nokia and ask for a new batt?

maybe the complaints came on just right now... or maybe it was already overwhelming by this time...
thats why they issued this recall.
They said that the battery were maid by Matsushita at the time of 2005-2006.
Like for a year round... theyve must have been waiting for further complaints...
anyway, its gud NOKIA is calling these back. But whats sad about it are those people who blew up their phones with this battery. Like here in the Philippines, theres this owner of N91 that blew while she was using it... good thing the blast came behind (the battery case) and didnt went thru upfront of the phone.... surely NOKIA will replace the batt. i dunno about the phone..

 Really? Thats dangerous. They didn't mention anything about batteries exploding - just overheating.

This is costing Nokia dearly:
Half a billion wiped off Nokia's value following battery scare
Following yesterday's news of a battery recall affecting 46 million mobile phone batteries from Nokia, the company has taken a hit on the stock market.
Over a half a billion pounds (or more, accurately £557m) was wiped off Nokia's stock market value in the hours after the announcement.
Matsushita Electric Industrial Co, better known by its "Panasonic" consumer brand, who manufactured the batteries suffered a similar fate when its shares fell to a two-year low.
The BL-5C batteries concerned may overheat when they've been recharged 200 or 300 times. This could mean they might deform, expanding inside the handset's case.
Nokia said that there were about 100 reported cases of overheating, with no reports of serious injury or damage as a result.
The replacement scheme for these batteries is the world's biggest ever voluntary consumer electronics recall.
Last year's laptop battery scare which saw Sony recalling 9.6 million batteries does not come close to the scale of this operation.
The cost of the recall is estimated to be between $300 and $500 million, Matsushita has said it will "discuss replacement costs" with Nokia.

"discuss"! panasonic should handle all the costs, AND compensate for share losses, isn't it obvious? |

I think Matsushita should compensate Nokia for fear Nokia takes it business elsewhere - that must be one huge supply contract.

i DO hope that nokia learnde its lesson... i rather pay a bit more, but then i wanna have european products... they cannot even meka a battery and they wanna make mobile fones? sad, sad, sad....

Jojo, should be careful not repeating it's parent's (Sony) battery exploding incidents 
anyway my SE battery doesn't heat up even after an hour long browsing, Charging and Calling. and the battery life doesn't even sucked fast

@raze - I agree matey ! But I do remember when I had my K600i back then (don't know what the batt's model on it) . . . after about 30 mins. of 3G-video call . . . the batt heats up . . .
