Please can anyone help me.
I have k800i with orange, phoned them up to sort out settings for sending things to email, but sitll does not work. keeps comming up with username incorrect etc.
Orange said its not their fault but i need to sort out my yahoo account (pop3) to let me do it.
I dont really understand as previously on nokia (vodafone) i could send anything to my and my friends emails account without having to set up anything?
Also if its actually yahoo themselfs can i use another account as i have a hotmail and orange email accounts if they are any easier to set up?
Please someone help me as i am desperate now, and will start pulling my hair out soon!
I am sorry if this has been ansered in previous post please just direct me plus i really dont understand all the technical stuff, so please explain it to me as if i am a child.

Hurray! my email works now, phoned the nice man from orange again, and he went through it step by step (felt a bit stupid but never mind), and tested it and it really works. I think if anyone is having the same problems the best thing is to phone their service provider as it can be a bit complecated!
If you have an orange mobile go straight to their tecnical surpport by dialling 156 option 2 (this is free of charge). |

You can also set up a Gmail account... Full instructions, step by step, are given in one of the threads in this topic...

Hi - I have the same problem but I can't work out how to solve it from the replies. I have a k800i with Orange and I am trying to use a btinternet email address (which I think is basically the same as yahoo). i've entered all the settings that I downloaded from Sony Ericsson and had these confirmed by Orange (when I phoned them to go through it all). I can receive emails no problem - I just can't send them. i keep getting a "incorrect username or password" message. The incoming settings are obviously correct - but there is a space for outgoing passwords and usernames under advanced settings. I've tried leaving them blank (Orange says to do this) or using the btinternet settings but no luck. They say try BT, BT says try Orange. Help?! |

Great - problem solved! Third person I spoke to at Orange finally explained what was wrong. I knew the incoming server used btinternet login details and I knew that I had to use smtp.orange.net as the outgoing server - but Orange kept saying that there were no username / password details required for this - not true. I've just used the login details I have to access my mobile account online (which apparently also gives me an orange.net email address) as the outgoing server details - and it works!
The only other thing they told me to change was under the option "Settings - Connectivity - Data Communication - Preferred Service" - it was "CS only"and it's now "PS and CS". Can any one tell me what this means? It's not in the user manual and I can't find any reference to it online. |

glad to know that you configured it successfully...
cs means call switched...
ps means packet switched...
so the options in the phone are use gsm only (cs only)...
and use gsm and gprs/edge (cs and ps)...
