at a quick glance, W880 has a back button, as does K810, W580, K770, W960 etc etc

just look at the SE product page to see that many still have it

Hmm yes but not on any next generation SEs. By the way, I think those phones aren't very good IMO, apart from the K810 (which I think is phenomenal) [addsig]

not sure what you mean by "next generation" but if you mean phones that are not yet available then W960 and K770 are certainly not available yet (as production units)

Its clear SE have not done away with the back button but are only using it selectively

YIPPY!!! there goes the "back" key and we get back the old Ericsson style of answer/ reject call button!!!!

Yippy we have the reject call button used as power button just like Ericsson

I hope slowly SE will even goes back to the way Ericsson used to make phone where a lot of innovation in engineering is brought back of course...i still hope when they are doing this....they still maintain the pleasant exterior they offer now.

I wish, but SE are implementing them in a similar way to Motorola (they are not softkeys as well, all they do is accept and reject calls) [addsig]

Seems like nokia took it away from SE...

Following strategy:

* Nokia showcased a new finger touch based S60 UI at Go-play event, and announced it in symbian smartphone show, devices will come in 2008.
* All upcoming Nseries will have wifi and 3.5mm jack!
* Future music phones from nokia will come with high quality headphones made by philips like these, 5700 was just the start.
* S40 5th edition phones will support java multitasking in the beginning of 2008.
* There will be only ONE touch S60 device for 2008.
* No VGA displays for mass market for at least a year.
* Nokia will soon start using a new "back key" in their phones.
* we'll see OMAP2430/1 based devices from nokia in 2008.
* Nokia will bring two to three devices with DVB-H next year.
* Nokia is working on rugged S60 multimedia computers, which will have a newer version bluetooth.
* some of the future nokia phones will feature a kickstand like the one in the N96
* we'll see a "couple" of relatively affordable devices with 16GB internal memory by the end of the year.
* no optical zoom devices for 2008!...

@gola: ROFLMAO!
Seriously, how much of a coincidence is that? :/
Too bad SE removed it One of the reasons I wanted to move to SE was because of the unique keys and interface..

I love the new A2 back-key-less SE phones. Once you get used to it and use it daily, you realise why they changed it. I find it much easier, and when I look at an old A1 phone's software now it actually looks dated.

I can't wait to see Nokia's back key. It will be hilarious if it turns out to be exactly like SE's old one!
