Simple instruction guide to make things work. |

Hi all, thanks for the information this forum provides, I have got my BT transmission working last night and I would like to give a summarised instruction here for those who are looking for answers as well.
Basically, my set up is this:
Pentium III, with i815 chipset
Windows XP (NO service pack 1 installed yet)
Epox BT USB adapter (Tecom based USB dongle)
A copy of 1.2.2.16 software downloaded and extracted into a temp folder
Okay, first, I install the software by running the 'setup.exe", then it goes through smoothly and no problem at all. Then I restarted the machine as it requested, i plugged in the BT adapter at the rebooting process where machine is outside the Windows environment (so it doesn't bother windows's USB detection). When I have entered WinXP, it automatically has detected there was "new hardware found", and tried to locate the driver by itself, and it got the driver without any problem. So, basically, by this point of time, the driver and software has been installed.
To transfer file from PC to Phone, you have to pair them.
On PC, you have to use the "pair device" function.
On Phone, you have to use the "Pair device"/"Add device"/"Phone Accepts"
Then the Phone will detect there is a "handshaking process", entering identical passkey (I use "1") as necessary. Then you have to set up the virtual COM port, just activate the Serial 1 service on the PC side. To send file (picture, ringtone, or theme) just drag and drop file to the inbox.
To transfer file from Phone to PC.
Do not let them paired, otherwise you won't have the option to send via bluetooth on your phone. If PC and Phone is paired at the moment, unpair them. you have to unpair it on the PC, as well as on the phone. When they are unpaired, you simply only have to use the send via bluetooth function to send file back to the PC, and the file will be stored at the default folder (the one inside the BT setting).
I hope this helps, I know its a bit not organised, I might edit it into a better format and more detail if anyone wants. I found the speed of transmission is about 3-5kbyte/s, is this OK?

Or if you follow my install method, it will work whether you're paired or not
Perhaps its different for Xp
