Well, im updating the F/W of my Z550i next week (just ordered DCU-60). And i thought about some stuff i need to know.

Its unlcoked and debranded but ive heard something about, if a certain cid is flashed that it loads operator F/W but other cids load unbranded F/W. Any info on this.

Also anything else useful will be appreciated.

Also mods sorry if a topic with all this info is already present. I did a search but the search thingie on esato is ****

The reason why you dont find what you are looking for is because members name topics like "things to know" instead of describing their problem. ;-)

It depend on the CDA. wotan and kulan said that if your CDA exist then SEUS can update your firmware and it will install firmware customization according to your phone CDA.

Well, you can check your phone CDA and compare it with SE CDA list (some site such as www.se-world.info give this list).
When you unbrand, some client required you to input the CDA string manually (like newer kulan client). If you put random string here then SEUS won't update your firmware.
If the client does not require you to put CDA string manually then there is big chance that client has put your CDA-string in accordance to firmware that you install (thus SEUS will work and flash your firmware with the same customization in your phone). Your unbranded will still be unbranded. At least that is the theory.
Please tell your finding here because this is an issue that has been repeated ask in this forum.

It's up again. Prob down for maintenance. It's here http://www.se-world.info/cda-strings or http://www.topsony.com/forum/cmps_index.php?page=lista_cda

Well, if it indeed rebranded by SEUS then you need to debrand again, sorry. Why don't you ask from place where you debrand it. If your CDA-string in your phone is still with one of the branded CDA then I am quite sure it will rebrand. If your CDA is already one of the generic CDA then there is big chance it will stay generic/debranded. I think some ppl debrand their UIQ (P990/M600/W950) by changing CDA string and force SEUS to flash with the latest firmware customization that is the same as the latest CDA on the phone.

Some ppl suggested SEUS may look for IMEI number as well (this I am not sure) and this will probably rebranded your phone again if it does.

Sorry I can't give definete answer here. I change Z610 CDA/language with kulan and wotan but I can't verify that SEUS stay with my changed CDA because I now already running the latest firmware for Z610.

Edit: Also beware that SEUS always think that it has the latest firmware. It will say that new firmware is available when your phone firmware is not the same as firmware in its database (despite you got newer firmware from wotan). It will flash your phone with older firmware. You can also check the latest firmware ver for your model here: http://www.se-world.info/firmwares.php

Well, i got it of ebay, debranded and unlocked, so i guess it was just flashed and that did it. Those CDA things, there is no Australian One for my phone on top sony , on SE world my phone is not even their.

and checking F/W from top sony
what does this mean

Die neuste Firmwareversion steht oben!
R6CA009 SEUS-Version 2
R6BA033 Release-Version 0

BTW my F/W is R6CA009

Any where else i can cjeck cda, did a google search but nothing.

AFAIK my F/W is the latest am i right, thats what it says in Z550i firmware info thread.

Oh wai i think my FW is generic. YAY thats good right. I found this out by going to service------->service info------->software info. Then it reads

R6CA009
prgCXC1250583_GENERIC_ML R6CA009

Keyword thier is Generic.

then it goes on about java, cam and erom.

So updating would mean i get new generic F/W right.

Yeah, it looks OK but don't quote me on this. To make sure just look at your CDA string in that Software info menu. Hopefully it can match one of the CDA string in that website. I know that both web site don't have complete CDA string database. Maybe you can google your CDA string and try to find out?

Edit: sorry didn't read it that you already google it. Well, I don't know where else you can find CDA info. Both website I gave you is in Europe so they seems to have complete Europe CDA but not for the rest of the world.

Problem with this is that it is possible that your firmware shows generic but the CDA is still the old branded CDA (as proven in new kulan client that said that CDA string won't be changed even if you choose other customization (language) if we don't enter it again manually in their client before flashing. I really don't understand why this option is given as ppl who changed language usually want it changed permanently (CDA change as well).

Edit: BTW you look like to have the latest firmware on SEUS anyway. Maybe you can try wotan to see if they have newer but never release firmware.

Well if you already make sure the CDA is valid and generic one then you may try to update through SEUS. However seems you have latest firmware anyway so maybe you will not gain anything. Please report here about whether it will stay unbranded.
If you want to fix something SEUS may not do it properly since it is part flashing. You need complete flashing to make sure (third party or SE service centre)

My friend on his Z550i was brought with voda and no branding is visabel and his F/W is R6BA033 is 102587/21_generic

Same as mine except i have newer F/W so there may be no voda software only generic on these phones.

So i wont get any branding with SEUS or anything,

Prob Solved i guess.
