Sorry for these kind of topics, but I just want opinions before going out there and spending a fortune on a phone and not liking it.
I know i'll miss the camera. But, is M600 a generally nice phone to use? Is the screen nice and vivid as a K800? I am not familiar with smartphones but they intrest me a lot, so will I get use to it? Is the phone fun to use?
MOST OF ALL, does it have a wide 3rd party application base like Nokia? |

its has got alot of 3th party aps, nokia will have more, but you'll do fine.
the screen is nice and big, but the one of the K800 looks more alive.
if you want to step into the smartphone world, you'll be better off with a P990
With Ericsson and Nokia gone: we must keep their spirits alive and buy JOLLA or YOTA |

What difference does the P990 have from M600 in functionality(apart from camera)?
Also, what is UIQ? |

If YOU dont have any idea why you are buying the phone you are wasting your money. That goes for any phone.
I dont think you need a phone otherwise you wouldnt post this topic. |

yeah, anyway, if you really don't like your M600 (wich I don't think so), you can sell it and get another phone; and if you do like it, you can keep it or sell it to get a P990 knowing you're not wasting your money. If you like sony ericsson alot, then it's going to be familiar and nice to use, on top of that, you'll get great functionality with Symbian, and of course, Sony Ericsson experience put in the device. cheers

what a dumbass thing to say!!! hahaha right.........why am i buying a PHONE!?!?!?! maybe to dial my friends up and check the time, or even make plans on my calendar!??? wtf?. im sure dude knows what hes looking for, hes just asking our subjective opinions about the m600. ive jumped from dozens of phones like jumpin broads on broadway, and the only way to know if you really like the device is to put it to use.
my opinion, aesthetically, its nice, that was one of the main reasons i wanted it. technically, the shi* crashes, but with the update services, crashing is at a minimal. but its only been 4 days since ive updated so i really dont know if problems still exist. symbian os is okay, not GREAT! but is very user friendly, theres a couple of annoying things about the system, but im not to fond of windows os either. would i get this phone again if i lost it? hell no, unless its half the price i paid for. if your interested in smartphones, check out htc phones, they just released 4 new phones. details and specs you can check out at: gsmarena.com. you made the right decision to make this post, dont listen to these guys trying to tell you not to buy phones you dont kno ish about. alwasy research and get 2nd opinions. if i were you, i would look around more. gl. |

i'm very happy with my m600. but it does depend on what you want. i just wanted the natural update from my p910.
I was waiting for the p990 but the looks and the size of the m600 won me over. My main requirement for the phone was 3g web surfing with touch screen. i really didn't use the camera on my p910 (it was rubbish) so i knew i could live without that. My next digital camera will have bluetooth tho.
the 2 main reasons the p990 is better than the m600 in my opinion is WiFi and the flip. Flip closed makes the phone much easier to use as a phone and i do miss that - but i'm still getting used to my m600. WiFi would be a god-send if a skype app is developed as i have a WiFi broadband connection at home.
Although i agree that the p990 is the better spec'ed phone - you really have to consider the size and the price of the p990 and just what that extra £200 gets you. I'm putting the money i saved towards a new digital camera!

Actually he has given little or no criteria by which to meaningfuly differentiate a phone or get any insightful responses. When he dropped the term "Fun" it should be a red flag for you. M600i is not a fashion phone, nor is it an easy phone. It doesn't even have a camera to play with and show your friends. It doesnt have wi-fi.
Most people who buy this phone will have thought about their needs and deliberately chosen to take this phone despite it not having several "popular" features. Its not an impulse buy or a random buy. This type of phone is not at all suited to that kind of consumer.

Best post of this thread. You are exactly correct. This is not a fun phone. Hence no Walkman branding nor CyberShot. This is a biz phone. A phone for a person that knows his needs before he has to ask. I have this phone and a k800i. They are not nearly the same, and serve different purposes and I do not confuse the two. If you have to ask then you do not need the phone. Sorry to sound harsh but this is the truth.
What I would do is go out to the SE website and look around.

N82(YES), iPhone 3G, Shure es530, Nikon D300, more stuff. No more SE stuff, why am I still here? |

I`d say it's a biz AND a fashion phone. Its design, color scheme and formfactor appeals to people who do care about looks and design. I've read loads of posts about the M600 where people boast about the nice style of the phone in the very first place! This is not common to business phones at all. Most business phones focus on functionality, durability and endurance. The M600 offers something more: style! And style can be related to fun, imo.
Anyway, people should be free to start any kind of topic-related thread here (unless there are other similar threads already). There are no "dumb" questions. If you think a question does not merit a sophisticated and concrete answer of yours, just ignore it and don't post, because anything else is simply off-topic.
QVGA, let me answer your questions:
1) I know i'll miss the camera. -> How much you'll miss it? Is it essential? You shouldn't buy the phone if you can't live without the camera.
2) But, is M600 a generally nice phone to use? -> It is really nice. Phone reception and quality is good. Overall the phone offers much more functions than the usual mobile phone. Have a look at the SE website and decide whether you need all those features.
3) Is the screen nice and vivid as a K800? -> Don't know, as I haven't seen the screen of the K800. You might ask sapporobaby for that as he has both the K800 and the M600. But the screen of the M600 is larger than the one of the K800 in terms of dimensions. I use it to watch full-length movies on it while on the train and it's gorgeous. Problem is, though, that in sunlight it's very hard to read.
4) I am not familiar with smartphones but they intrest me a lot, so will I get use to it? Is the phone fun to use? -> Difficult answer to give. As I said before, imo, it's a business fashion phone, but it's definitely NOT the typical fun phone of which there a hundreds of them out there.
5) MOST OF ALL, does it have a wide 3rd party application base like Nokia? -> Not yet, but growing. I doubt, however, that it will ever have as many 3rd party applications as Nokia phones have.
Hope that helps!
