for the first week or two maybe but i think it will go down considerably after that, otherwise it will just depend on where you buy the phone

Sorry, just logged in again after a while, is there a definite release date yet?? My P910i has started doing funny things again and I'm getting seriously annoyed. Actually looking at Nokias again! |

I asked the Sony people if they've received the sets here in Karachi. The guy said yes they're putting out the new OS through some tests. He couldn't confirm a release date but hinted at anywhere between 15 to 30 days, let's just hope he wasn't just blabbering. |

SE suks big time.
Have you guys noticed that this thread started 9 months ago?
Where the hell is P990 still?
Would you buy a device that you know it is still so buggy?
I know that I wouldn't. |

If you don't need it or want it then don't buy it...

Many rumours and of course Eldar indicate that we are closer to the release of the P990 than ever (o.k... even without all that we would be closer too ).
The hardware won't change any more, so why waiting with the release? Of course software bugs will be fixed with the release of new ROMs.
Anyways... I am looking forward to this device since my excursion in the world of windows mobile went terribly wrong and ended into frustration. |

Gutted, just checked website, P990 has moved, Z550i is now the next handset out |

I predict that the P990 will come out in August/September, then early next year we will se the P1000 with more "up-to-date" specs.
Although no doubt a GREAT phone, I think the specs of the P990 is starting to look no so "leading edge" as when it was first annouced |

On what basis have you made this assumption? |

What is the latest news about the launch date from Sony Ericsson, Q2 has come and gone and we are in the start of Q3 and the P990i is still not out for sale ?
The P990i was introduced with much aplomb and fanfare in October 2005 and till today, there is still a big question mark of the launch date.
Sweden, Japan and England is already out of the World Cup by the way people at Sony Ericsson.

The launch date is still conjecture as I don't believe there's a fresh announcement on the SE web site.
A rep in the Vodafone store in town quoted September to me.
I'd love the P990, especially as my P900 is doing odd things, reporting the battery as low even though it'll last for several more days. Sadly I don't think I can afford a P990 SIM free and couldn't go for a network branded one as it sounds like it'd need new firmware every other week.
I'm seriously looking at a cheap, free "upgrade" to tie me over for a year until the P990's replacement is out. While the P990 would be great, I just feel this phone will be out of date a few months after launch, after all in October it'll be a year since the announcement!
Not sure what's caused the massive delays but Sony Ericsson have done themselves no favours by remaining silent on their "flagship" phone |

I've had every single P series phone, sadly I don't think i'll be going for the P990, i'll be too much money for something that's so delayed, guess i'll continue to use the M600 and just wait for the 990's successor |
