Well, I get the same battery stand-by of one day but with heavy usage. I mean, what do you expect with the phone constantly on making calls and browsing internet, reading mails and connecting to the BT headset?!
I am pleased with its performance while I admit it's not nice to discharge at 19.00, I can always plug it in the car charger for some extra-juice.

@Prae,

You seem to be able to read on the Internet about different techniques to manage battery life but you can spend the time to read the manual to turn off 3G?

Your battery is defective it seems. Take it back and have them test it.

I don't think the battery is defective, just a lot of usage or poorer signal coverage...
And, yes, 3G, eats up a lot of battery power, so if you want, don't use it but then your internet connection will be MUCH slower.

Hi prae,
If you are using R4 you definitely need to update your firmware as it is now on R9. Although i have only had my phone for 3 days i am experiencing none of the problems you mention and am on 3G always which uses more power than GSM.
Just a couple of questions when you got your phone how long did you charge it for prior to using it?
Are you charging it via USB or the mains?

I would suggest letting the battery get as low as possible and then leaving it on charge over night with the phone switched off and definitely upgrade to the latest firmware hope that helps.

@701

You could have a point but if he can get to an SE service center, why not to let them check the battery. The battery could be okay but not the charging circuit in the phone. Typically I get 2 days but I have BT active all the time, RSS is updating every 2 hours, Worldmate udating every 4 hours, and Active Sync going out over the net via GPRS to sync my data. I did however turn off 3G considering the basic data applications that I am utilizing.

PRAE

Try turning off hand writing by placing input on keyboard. This really helped me in increasing battery duration.

ANY WORD ON WHY 3G or 2G coverage makes a difference ?

Because 3G/UMTS and GSM/GPRS are in effect 2 (or three) different networks, so the phone has to connect to a whole host of different receivers to be able to talk to all networks.
Effectively you're using twice the number of antennae and twice the power to operate twice the number of connections.
