Hello Hello all here at ESATO.

I've read through much of the massive M600i thread here which details much of every aspect of this great phone. I've just had mine for 5 days now and I'm noticing an unusually quick battery drain.

I've seen people comment on how GREAT the battery life is for this phone;
others have said that the battery needs to be TRAINED ?

Also, I've read that whether one uses this phone in 2G or 3G makes a difference.

MY QUESTION TO EVERYONE IS HOW CAN I GET THE BEST BATTERY LIFE out of this phone ? ? ?

Right now I get a day or less of usage. Not at all acceptable.
This is normal usage / I don't even use the Media Player or WEB that much . . .

I AM ON T-MOBILE US / with a TZONES plan.

I would like to know how I could switch between 2G and 3G to conserve battery life ? ? ?

AND what kind of battery life are you all getting out of your M600i ?
and what settings are you using ?

THANKS IN ADVANCE

BEST REGARDS

Calls = 1h

Bluetooth = 1h

Calendar, etc = 2h

SMS, email = 30min

1 day max is my battery life.
Admit nothing, deny everything and make counter-accusations.

best way is to charge the batt in off mode, u could also fully drain the battery in every second month once

That ONE DAY Battery life is HORRIBLE . . .

I've read in these forums of people getting 3 days of use out of one full charge.

I am in the US . and I am using a converter with the charger / I'm wondering
if that would make a difference ? ? ? But I suppose many other users are in the same situation . . .

ALSO, any word on how to turn of 3G ? I've read that helps . . .

THIS PHONE HAS TO HAVE BETTER BATTERY LIFE THAN JUST ONE DAY'S USE .

SECOND Q.

I am charging the phone in OFF mode, but why does the backlight stay on,
although dimmed ? ? ? seems absolutely pointless and wasteful, i feel like it's going to kill my backlight in a year . . . yikes .

.

thanks again everyone . i hope i can get some definitive answers and advice from this .

Well, I'm running the newest FW, as I flashed my phone 4 days ago when i got it. ALSO I've read a post up on here from a few weeks ago with someone complaining about the same issue / the backlight is VERY DIM . but it is on . . .

That's when it is charging whilst turned OFF . . .

Any word on the BATTERY LIFE Stuff ?

@PRAE

1. we all use our M600 in different ways
2. Not all batteries are the same, depends on how you look after them (I don't use USB charging from a laptop)
3. I have 85%+ 3G coverage therefore this impact battery life
4. Buy an additional battery

I typical get a days use with 30/40% charge left at the end of the day:

- BT on 12hrs
- 3G coverage
- 30 mins of web browsing
- 15/20 mins of PIM
- 15/20 mins of music over BT
- 15 mins of calls

Thanks Jah,

I appreciate your contribution, and you're right : we all do use this device differently. I'm just taken aback by the lack of battery life because i basically only use this for CALLS + TEXT Messaging . I rarely use emails as I haven't yet figured out how to do so. And I never use any of the media functions.

I did buy an extra battery, but it can't be charged independently so it becomes something of a pain to juggle both charging cycles.

I'm just wondering about those who are reporting longer battery life than just one day of use. I've never had a phone with that little battery life.

ANY WORD ON WHY 3G or 2G coverage makes a difference ?

Also how would i go about switching 3G off to conserve power ?
What else could one do to extend the battery life ?

I read somewhere about BATTERY LIFE EXTENDERS offered by
O2 and VODAFONE in the UK, but i don't know much about those . . .

THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE . .

best .

Actually,I guess it's pretty normal to have a day of dtand by after only 4-5 charges.It'll do better after 10 charges.On the light issue,if u go to Control Panel,Device and on Handheld u put it on auto,ur light wonlt stay on.

I think its normal for a device with large screen couped with only 900mah battrey. so I guess SE should launch a big capacity batt.

GSM/3G

Tool>Control Panel>Connections>Mobile Networks>More>GSM/3G Networks

Choose 'GSM only'
Join the 'dots' and see what happens

SO As Time goes by, and I charge it up fully i should notice an improvement on standby time ? ? ?

I certainly hope that that is the case.

Is there really any hope that SONY would come out with a larger capacity battery for this phone? I thought that was not possible.

ALSO . thanks JAH . I'm switching to GSM only to see if that makes a difference .

/

This T-mobile TZONES 'ish is killing me as I can't seem to get neither my 4Smartphone.net account / nor any chat clients to work. I feel like its something to do with the GPRS WAP service that Tzones offers . . .
yikes. that's off the topic. sorry about that .

I'll see what happens today with the battery life.

Thanks again all .

WELL NOW THIS IS RIDICULOUS / / /

I've been charging the phone for 8 hours, while the phone was turned OFF.
I turn it one to find it displaying a 42% charge. W T F ? ? ?

Could this just be a defective battery or is there something else at play .
Like I said, I've already updated the firmware to R4 or whatnot . . .

How can I calibrate this battery ?

thanks again everyone .

@Prae,

I use a GSM network and use the phone primarily for texting and phone calls but i do check emails & RSS quite a bit through GPRS. My battery typically lasts for two days on a full charge
