Welcome to the K800 beta tester community. Sad but true. You would think, that someone other at SE than the mailroom would test the phone.

I've had mine back from vodafone.
All they did was 'install new software'.

My K800i died about 30 mins ago as well. Same symptoms.

I had my phone charging overnight, woke up this morning and it said 'Fully Charged'. So i pulled it out, turned on the phone and typed in my PIN.

The phone loaded to the standby screen, then when i pressed the shortcut button the phone froze and the screen turned white. I pulled out the battery, put it back in and now when i press the power button i get that blinking red LED in the infra-red as everyone is getting.

What the hell is up with Sony Ericsson???!!!

Se are aware of the problem. They do have a fix but you have to take it to be repaired.

p.s: My friend had this exact problem as well a few months ago (he's probably made a post on esato about it too). Thought it wud neva happen to me and it has!

The funny thing is, a new K800i firmware was released 5 days ago, version R1ED001. I don't know if it's available for O2 users but if it is, i think if i had updated the f/w 5 days ago i probably wouldn't have got the problem (cuz apparantly one of it's fixes is the 'white screen of death').

The problem is with the Erom. Seus does not update the Erom. This can only be done with wotan or at a service centre.

(yeh, it's still dead) Where the heck r u posting from dale?! (on the school computers!?) I checked to see if you were on MSN earlier to tell you, and i would have texted/called you- but my phone isn't working . I'm going into school at around 1pm if ure in. And when i mentioned about my friend having the problem (as in you Dale) i didnt realise u had posted on the same thread as well

The funny thing is me and Gary were having the 'N80 vs K800i' debate on MSN yesterday, seems like he's winning at the moment!!! (maybe gary doesn't have to know... unless he signs into esato himself!).

i'm in the shop ken what about you... i will go in to school at 1 and meet you for a bit if you want.

omg dont let gary know i cant get him to shut up about that N80. i used 1 for the weddin i went to on sat... disappointed i must say. i picked it over the K750 i was using bcause of the better camera quality but its shocking! the slightest movement blurs the picture. the K750i would of been better lol.

really miss the K800i for the camera. P990i also delayed once again (23/10/2006)

About the whole K800i dilemma (and this bits to everyone- not just Dale ), does the new firmware actually fix the problem then?

yea, its not for me i'm affraid. i will still come see ya and meet up

but any way along with kenny will the firmware sort it? and are we talkin an update via SEUS or total multi server/ davinchi etc?

will updating via total multi server/ davinchi void the warrenty at the service centre?

mine has no warrenty in the UK but if i was to get an UK replacement (fingers crossed) i dont want this to happen again because i'm that annoyed with my K800i regardless of how good they are i think it will take a trip down the stairs, i'd like to avoid that

know what u mean- i feel like hurling mine towards a concrete wall. I've packaged it up ready to be returned to 'The Link', but now and again i'll take it out and press the power button to see if a miracle has fixed (to no success of course!).

Yeh i mean when i receive my replacement it'll most likely have the first R1CB001 firmware on (which is the old one and is causing the problem), and if we update to the latest 'R1ED001' using SEUS will it fix our problems? The k800i firmware overview says: 'Bug Fixes- 'White Screen Of Death' problems fixed', is that for definite?!

DEAD Resolved

no more servis points, rescue your dead phone at home
using Wotan server with at least 1credit.

after start, wotan need phone to be connected with pressed "C" instead you press "2" and "5" together like with regular Erom update.

hope is not posted before
