Just to start the ball rolling, here is my deal:

O2 UK - Upgrade, Online 50, 12 month contract

SE K800 + 50mins & 500 texts
£119.99 upgrade charge
£9pm for 12 months

Total: £227.99

(Normal Online 50 = £49.99 phone charge, £19pm = £277.99, although you can get £35 back if you go through Quidco)

that's not too bad,
i'm currently on online 400, with 400mins and 1000 texts. £30p/m
what sort of upgrade do you think i'll get, and when are they saying you'll recieve the upgrade?

For £30pm the default tariff is:

Online 200 - 18 month
Phone cost: Free
Offer 1: 300 mins, 750 texts
Offer 2: 400 mins, 150 texts

Total cost: £360 (1 year), £540 (contract length)

This is the worst case scenario - if you have to change contracts. As to what deal you get, it has always been a very random process. It very much depends on who you get and how much you can bamboozle them

I need to ring them back on June 26th to place the order. They have the offer they gave me on the notes attached to the contract.

Mike

yea, but's it's extremely unlikely they'll ask me to downgrade, purely because of the ammount i spend with them per month.
i would think for a fact my tariff won't change, seems they upgraded me to a tariff that didn't actually exist this time last year, as i said i would just go to phones4u.
but i'm going to give them a ring later on this evening i think.
also, how likely do you think it is i will be able to upgrade a month early? reckon it's possible if i pull the stops out? i'm quite excited about this, i really was going to go for a w950, but i think i'm going to go for k800 in the end.

I think that everyone can upgrade 11 months into an O2 contract. I certainly could last year anyway.

Started this thread over 12 months ago now when the K750 came out, I got that for free back then but have a look at the last page for k800 deals through O2, I'm pretty happy with mine:

Retention Tariff of Online 400, 1000 text and 8mb gprs for £30 with £100 credit to account

K800 on second new tariff of £19 per month and phone at £49.99

=

£177.99

That way I get my pre-order in and no messing waiting for the upgrade stock to come online... but trying to get something better...

The credit was instead of an upgrade, it's fairly standard and does tie you in for another 12 months.

I forgot my affiliate £20 just credited today now makes the phone £157

I'm working on getting it lower than that somehow!

im pretty sure theyll make you an offer regardless, whether its good or not will be dependant but im sure you'll be able to barter

the mobile sector is ridiculously competitive and networks are always desperate to keep you - i got £10 credit on my pay as you go on orange just because customer services couldnt help me and i told them i was pissed off with orange world (which i wasn't, but i thought it might be worth a try, clearly it was )
Mobile working solution:
Acer Aspire Gemstone Blue 6920G + DVB-T ExpressCard + Merlin XU870 + 3 5GB/mo Mobile Broadband
HTC TyTN II + T-Mo Flext 25 W'n'W
Nokia 5300 + T-Mo Everyone PAYG

right, after an hour on the phone to upgrades, retentions and then customer service;
i have to pay of the rest of my contract which is £60 in total for the two months, as they've let me off of the final month, and i can have the k800 free of charge as well as keeping my existing tariff which is 400mins and 1000 texts. they also said i could possibly have an 8mb data bundle on there, when i ring back on thursday to pay off the bill.
it's also only a 12 month contract....

not bad i think.
