I've just bought myself a screen protector for my w810, it says easy to apply but I’m not to sure, have any of you lot got experience with putting screen protectors on, if so is it hard/easy and are they actually worth buying?

I am used with putting them on a PDA (iPaq)
You have to ensure that the screen is spotless before placing the protector anywhere near the screen.
Once the bottom or top edge is in place, smooth it out across it's full length and then work out any small blisters from the centre out over.
I have used a credit card to do the smoothing on the iPaq, but the protectors also came with a laminated card the size of a credit card which was used as a smoother. |

ah right doesnt sound to hard then
does it make much of a difference or will it still scratch and scuff just as easy as the phone screen its self? |

hey..i assume the w810 screen is the same as the k750/w800 and my k750 got by scratchlessly despite the fact that i never used a case or a protector for as long as i used it.. A touchscreen phone is a different story.. So if you are the relatively careful types, i wouldnt worry too much

I am quite confused why some folks are using 'screen protectors' with their ordinary fones I guess, screen protectors 'should' only be used with fones with PDA - touch screen functions/features, as you are touching the screen with the stylus 'most' of your use . . . .

yup! I have a screen protector on my K-JAM. But I never used it on my phones.
I don't think they are necessary for the phones.

hhmm i have always had screen protectors on my phones to prevent scratches, putting them on can be a little bit of a hastle you got to put it straight and so on, i think the w810i was particulary har since it has rounded buttons so it was a little tricky. but worked out good in the end. as for why people use screenprotectors i cant answer i can only anwser for my self and since i havnt paid more than 50€ for a phone ever since i had my nokia 8210, always selling them with 3-4 months of guarantie and in spotles mint condition.
latest was my w800i i sold for 360€ and bought the w810i for 320€. brand new offcourse. thats why i use crystal cases and screenprotectors |

I have seen many crystal cases for phones.
but they don't look good.
they spoil the look of phones.

I have always used screen protectors on my phones as well as my pda - I don't use a case with my phone and keep it in my pocket, so a screen protector keeps it in perfect condition. Yes, the screen protector can get scratched or marked, but much cheaper and easier to replace than a new screen. As Mini-Me said, with a bit of patience and a credit card, they are fairly easy to apply... the thing is to peel about a third of the backing off, position the protector, and then peel the rest off whilst smoothing it into place. eBay is a great place to find cheap, good quality screen protectors. |

one that i can recommend is the Ultra-clear Screen Protector from Brando workshop.
theyre good... and cheap. and yet durable.

Yeah, as I have been seeing new digicam releases from Sony that has a 'touch-screen' feature on it. With that, you really will be needing a screen protector.

Hmm... In the past when I was still using phones with monochrome displays, I wasn't too concerned about protecting the screen. Now with the newer phones I'd usually put on the screen-protector, unless they have express-on covers. It's quite easy to put the screen-protectors on, but it's important to get good ones. There are some that will cause the screen to appear distorted and also some that get scratched really easily. Whilst it's true that PDAs with touch-screens need the screen-protectors more, I think it's a good investment for normal phones too. To apply the screen-protector, I usually fold back about half of the backing, then align the edge of the protector with the edge of the screen. After getting a good alignment, make sure there's enough grip between the contacting surfaces, then remove the backing. Ensure the whole screen-protector has been applied properly, then smooth out from the first point of contact. A credit card is useful for this. If there are any bubbles of air trapped underneath the screen-protector, don't worry, gently smooth them out from the centre of the screen. If there are still some left, it's okay, they will eventually disappear after a while.
