Designed for developing nations, the Motorola PVOT is a hand cranked, rechargeable AA battery powered phone.

ESATO NEWS

You get one minute of use for every 25 cranks.Other features include a 125 x 125 Dot Matrix LCD and an “Eraser Shield" keypad. No word yet on if this concept will go into production but it does look rather sexy.

For a self powered phone i think it looks rather good...The design is refreshingly different,Motorola would do well to put this into production. [addsig]

Yeah, I'd second that.
Trying to imagine what it'd look like giving the phone a few cranks every few minutes while being put on hold for some dodgy network's customer services...

Hope this concept is not just a wind-up...!

you cant easily charge it though, you cant get a solid 360 degress motion without having to take you hand off the wind up mechnism....
