Hi,

does anyone know how to turn of the shutter sound on W810?
When you make more then a few picture's start to be very annoying if the sound is on.
Thanks!

put the phone on silent mode.

if that doesn't work, you'll have to flash your phone.

we have a million threads on this topic (ok, well 100), and from those its clear that it is fairly regional (and sometimes operator) based whether your firmware allows camera silent mode or not

the only solution if it does not allow camera silent mode is to use a service like davinci to flash your firmware to firmware from another region

@infra, what's your firmware version???
press & hold the # key in standby mode, this will activate silent mode which should silence the camera sound.
btw, welcome to esato.

@infra, if i'm not wrong, i think you have the latest software on your phone. the camera sound should get silenced in silent mode. is your phone network branded???
btw, you don't need to apologise for starting a new thread, it aint no big deal. feel free to ask your queries, every1 is a newbie at some point of time.

no, of course an appology is not neccessary, and some say the search here is quirky (but lets not get into that), but if you want some further reading in previous threads here are some search examples

at the end of the day though I think you're stuck unless you're prepared to do the flash as suggested

camera sound

camera noise

shutter sound

there's more, of course, but that should get you started

Interestingly, on my T610i and my K700i, on Orange, it was impossible to turn the camera shutter noise off (due to privacy laws etc in UK), but now that I have a W810i, the shutter is silent in Silent mode (also on Orange) so they seem to have relaxed this rule.

Maybe it's me but I think that the "privacy" reason is very stupid because I have Sony CyberShot p-200 which is almost the same size as W810 and if I want to take "illegal" pictures I can do it very easy with 7.2 megapixels:) and no shutter sound.BTW matty which firmware version you have?

@Infra
It's very much different comparing a cellphone with a cybershot camera, there have been a lot of reports of cellphones being used to invade privacy from other people. Cameras even though they're small they are ONLY used for taking pictures, not as cellphones which can be used NOT ONLY for taking pictures, but for doing calls, play music, send messages, view e-mail, browse internet, play games, etc.....
So as you see it's pretty much a difference if you see someone with a camera on the cellphone and another with only a camera...

You're prolly more 'inclined' to shoot ass*s & skirts with a cellphone than carrying around a camera all day (unless you are THAT perverted...)

I have FW version R4CF002

If there's a more up-to-date FW version, I can't find it anywhere and the W810i on Orange in UK doesn't have the Update Service feature, so I can't updfate it anyway, even if I wanted to!
