I just bought a data cable, anyone knows how to use it?
I've spent nearly 2 hours tried to search on sonyericsson's website for softwares, but they don't see to work with data cables, all of them are for IR devices.

Thanks

It's just plug and play, if you're using WindowsXP, i believe it already hasa driver for it. But the cable is there to link your t68 to your PC. You'll need softwares like MyPictures, Outlook, etc. to interact with your phone. Follow the link here for the softwares:

The main problem is the mobile phone monitor in control panel doesn't connect to my phone. Seems like it can't see it or something. Can anyone help me?

download software from http://www.christersson.org

'Sendfile' is the the main application used to send any file to your phone:

dont think your alone, the software & cable is very tempremental for lots of people, you just have to persist with it to get it working.

Using the cable is straightforward, he you have the official one. Enable the com port where the cable is connected from phone monitor options. Once you do, your phone and SIM will be \"registered\" and from then on you should be able use it.

with the thousands of different computer hardware/software configurations...nothing is straight forward for everyone.

i have the official cable and it's not straight forward so suggesting it is hardly solves this persons problem.

The problem is the mobilemonitor doesn't seem to see my phone. I enabled the communication port and nothing seems to change.

@reveragew assuming nothing's wrong with your cable (is it an original ericsson?), are you using a desktop computer with an internal modem and a serial mouse? ideally the com port you're going to use for that cable shouldn't share with any other hardware and tsr program. i think the simplest software to use in checking if your computer is communicating properly with your fone is Float's mobile agent. This program doesn't require ericsson's mobile phone settings to be installed. You can configure and assign what com port to use for your cable.

I agree with decoy7 that the software & cable is very tempremental for lots of people, you just have to persist with it to get it working. Computer hardware also contributes to some installation problems

yup! im using Float Mobile Agent to check if my Bluetooth and cable are working.

i had hard time using cable before, the only software that works was Float mobile agent and modem (i was using win ME then); now, w/ Win 98, all sony-ericsson's sw are working.

I live in canada, it is almost impossible to find an original data cable in here since there ain't too many ericsson/sony ericsson phones in here. I bought an after market cable, I guess its the cable's problem then.

To address the problem more clearly is that everytime the computer tries to connect to the phone, the "ericsson optimized charging" thing go on, but the computer can't find the phone.

It is.

If I can get this working I might just tuck the charger back into the box
