nice review laffen

my brief comments as follows:

it's actually my wife's phone, but from my experience so far it's a good little handset. sound quality is surprisingly good and loud, camera is reasonable, look and feel is quite solid and sturdy. i personally prefer the orange casing which has a nice tactile sensation to it compared with the metallic white one. UI so far seems stable and intuitive.

the swivel motion is smooth and easy without being loose, with a satisfying click in place at each locking point. i find the keypad quite easy to use although others with fat fingers may disagree.

I personally dont like the way the swivel works, if opened, the screens on top and the buttons are facing up its right but if you close it its upside down and the you have to turn it around again....

Hope you understand....

Well, I've just got a brand new W550i after renewing my contract! Strange having a phone with nothing on the call timers, and not having to take a T6 screwdriver to it!

First impressions - great phone. Taken a couple of quick photos using my S700i and the W550i for comparison, will post them when I have a bit more time (should really get some lunch and go to work!)

Sizewise, it's about the same as a Samsung D500 and slightly smaller than the S700i. It seems to hold an excellent signal too! One little thing I've found so far is that when you go into the service tests on the phone, it wouldn't test the speaker or loudspeaker, it kept throwing you back to the service test menu. Also, the photo light test didn't work, though these work absolutely fine on the phone!

Also having some trouble getting AAC/M4a files to run on the phone, but that's a different thread!

I like the phone, nice, clear bright screen, some nice touches and improvements (like the clock in standby mode, which you didn't get on the S700i). Haven't had chance for a proper play, will post some more thoughts then (and when I have a little more time!)

just bought the phone last weekend...it's great!
so far so good...have not yet encountered any bugs/errors.

the only thing that i don't like is...you can't
change the display panel cover!
(need extra care to avoid scratches)

Its a very solid and sturdy phone.

Screen not as good as K750/W800, sound a tad saturated. I also had a bit of a muffled ear piece when i owned one. [addsig]

another thing...the faceplate color fades too fast especially on the corners.

Another thing I like which is a new feature is the over the air update service - you can update your firmware wherever you are over a GPRS connection, no need for SyncStations! It will even prompt you monthly to check for updates if you want it to.

The 'Nokia' style changing profiles etc. by one press of the power button is very good too.

However, the speaker, earphone and flash LED tests in the service test menu still don't work though, even with a sim card inserted! Bit of a bug there, methinks.
