The Vertu Ascent Motorsport Edition is like no other. It costs both your arms,It is made with petroleum-resistant automotive leather inlaid with carbon fiber and Liquidmetal,an alloy that is stronger than aerospace grade titanium. Matter of fact, it’s so strong, the company claimed the phone could be run over by the very car that inspired its design:a F1 Porsche. The NY Times got the £3000 phone to take it for a very special kind of test drive. They wanted to call Vertu’s bluff and roll over it with a Porsche which they did, actually.Five times with a 2,800-pound Boxster. The result? The phone emerged without a crack or scratch...Wow now thats what i call durable!

Have you not seen T3....just kidding!

According to wikipedia

Liquidmetal and Vitreloy are commercial names of an amorphous alloy developed by Liquidmetal Technologies. Due to its non-crystalline structure, the material is harder and more elastic than alloys of titanium or aluminum used in similar applications. The technology has made its way into consumer, military and industrial fields, most visibly in sports equipment such as skis, baseball and softball bats, and racquets. [addsig]

Any body tried driving over any other phone? Just how much tougher is this?

And no before you ask. I'm not going to test it... I love my phone too much.

hahaha, I wouldn't either!

I guess most (or all) other phones won't endure even one run-over. even if the car's a minicooper.

if the car was going slow then i can see this easily happening, but if it was going fast (atleast 30MPG/20KPH) when the tires went over it, it would probobly toss it some causing some scratches. idk, its just had to believe there are no scratches.
Its good to be back!

Well it did run it over 5 times,so regardless of the speed if it had to scratch it would have done so in the first couple of runs...this phone is entirely scratch proof but never knew it was that good. [addsig]

Bahhh.. its still a Nokia !

But axxxr is right. Vertu is to Nokia what Lexus is to... Toyota is it ?

Not surprising though since its using better dan space age materials.. The baby brand that Vertu is, they can afford a lean organisation and yet have people with higher skills. PLUS recovering costs thru niche, hype generated markets comes (relatively) easy (what the heck, IMO there are small electric cars one can have for as much money ) ! !
