Hi,
i´ve been using a w800 for 4 days and i´ve noticed some strange things about my phone. I´m using R1N035, but i dont know if the problems i´ve seen are due to that. I dont know how to change fw, so i´d really appreciate some help.
1- my battery only charges up to 97%, what about the other 3%?
1 hour of mp3 playing eats up about 5%-6 of my battery, is this normal? at the same time playing games eats up twice as that and if are playing games and mp3s at the same time after 2hours almost half of your batt is gone.
2- I tried using dics2phone but it didnt work, after transfering all music(116songs), i unplugged and all i got was one empty folder saying i should i´ve used disc2phone, when i actually did. I try to transfer the songs manually and i worked although u cant send too many files at the same time otherwise it wont work. Westerday i try to transfer some games and themes and after unpluggin the phone have of my songs had been erased!!!!!! i try to transfer just a few games(4) and themes(4) and it worked.
has this happened to any1 else???

thx!!

firstly R1N is known to have bugs with deleting stuff when using the USB. I advise using a card reader. Also it sounds asthough either you didnt do a full overnight charge when you first got it, or your batterys duff. My K750 is running W800 R1N and playing mp3s (without changing volume or track) doesnt use much battery, like 2%. Also about charging, if you use the USB it will never charge to 100%

I didnt charge through usb. When i first got it i charged it turned off for about 10hours. What if i drained the whole battery and then redo the overnight.would it work? 1 more thing, how can i change the fw? Which 1 is not buggy?

Yeah it is possible that a total drain and then a recharge could help. You change the firmware from the SE site. But i think R1N may be the latest, or perhaps i heard it was R1A. Not too sure. But go to SE site and cruise around. Check the support for W800 page.

I redid the overnight ofter draining it and it seemed fine (´battery fully charged´). I listened mp3s for about 15-20 min and it was still 100%. The problem remains when i play games: i played Might and Magic (rpg game) for about 1.2 h and it drained 30%off my batt!! is this normal????? should i redo the overnight again?

It can take a few weeks for a battery to work as it should. games do drain the battery quite quickly as they use quite a bit of processor power and use the screen and the speaker, this is inevitable.

the discharge and redo wasn't the thing that helped. It is normal for a brand new lithium batt to take a few days to properly reach full charge, but from then on it's fine. It would have gained it's full charge eventually even if you didn't charge overnight again. Once it is able to charge fully, you will only ever need it to charge it a maximum of two hours to fully charge the batt. After that the battery charger cuts off (so as not to overcharge the battery, which is bad for lithium batteries). That's why with lithium battery based phones the charger isn't warm in the morning when you take the phone off charge - it charged the batt in the first two hours after you went to bed and then shuts down for the rest of the night.

Lithium batts don't suffer memory affect, so it's never necessary to "run the battery dead" to condition it, as you would with nicad or nimh batts. Infact, running a lithium battery dead can ruin it. For that reason it has circuitry to prevent the phone using the battery when it falls below a certain low voltage level. When the battery reaches the critical level, it shuts of current flow and the phone shuts down. So you haven't done any damage by running it dead

Yesterday I charged my W800i for the very fist time too. And after reading this topic, I have some doubts... I really want a efficient, power saving battery.

My initial plan: charge it for 2.5 hours (like instructed on the manual), use the phone until it's fully discharged (to prevent the memory effect), and fully charge it again. I'd repeat this cycle 3 or 4 times.

Is the manual fine or should I have made an overnight charge on the first time?

After reading this topic, it seems that none of this actions is necessary. You just have to fully charge it on the first time, and the rest doesn't matter.

Is the memory effect a myth regarding the W800i battery life?

no memory effect on battery.

I jus charge for a couple of hours every few days.
