K750i "Insert Correct Sim Card" |

I switched my handset on last week and the message appeared "Insert Correct Sim Card". I've tried several sim cards to no avail. Orange are useless and haven't bothered getting back to me. So am trying to find another way of fixing the problem.
If I hit the number 1, it requests me to enter an Authorisation Code.
Help!!!?*!@&^**(

Can the phone switch on correctly with an Orange sim card in it If it does it will mean that the phone is *locked* to Orange and you will need to ask them for the unlock/autherisation code to use your phone on any network other than Orange.
Hope this makes sense..

It doesn't work with any Sim card. I am with Orange - one day it worked the next it didn't. Frustrating, eh! |

It sounds as if the phone has locked itself against all networks somehow. It sometimes does this if an attempt to unlock the phone has gone wrong.

There are 2 types of codes for the SE phone, one of them is the Phone unlock code and one of them is a network code.
Does you sim card work in a other phone ?
If it doesn then ring Orange on 150, Option 3 then option 2. If you have Orange insurance, Orange will send you a replacement handset out within 24hours. If you dont you will have to take the phone into a CPW center or SE Service Center for them to repair the fault.
This might sound mad, but the phone is your responsability and not Oranges. Orange provided you with the airtime, the phone is responsability of the Manufacturer.
eg, If you purchased laptop from the ship an the item went faulty, if its within (I think)14 days you can have a replacement or refund, after this you contact the manufacturer for them to fix the unit. Same stands with a phone.
This applys to all makes and models of phones and all manufacturers.
Im not sure on where you ive, but there are plenty of service centers arround the uk that will fix your phone, all you need is your receipt.
Hope this helps.

Have spoken to Orange and they said that it sounds that the phone has locked itself against all networks.
The phone has been crashing since I bought it. I switched it on after it crashed and the message said "Insert correct sim card". I'm successfully using my sim in another handset.

Perhaps a firmware update could help? You could do it yourself using the Sony Ericsson Update Service if you had a DSS-25 Syncstation, or as it's under warranty take it to a service centre and get SE to do it for you

Tried using the update service but the software reports that there is a problem communicating with the phone.
You can't do anything with the handset. Even when you try putting a #command# into the phone it doesn't respond. The only thing that does respond is when you hit the number '1' it goes to a screen that says Emergency calls only, displays a picture of a padlock and has an area to allow you to type in a code. No idea what the code could be. Have tried 0000 and 12345. Any ideas?

Not sure - the only thing I can suggest now is to take it to a service centre as it should still be under it's warranty and see what SE have to say.

i bought my k750i in malaysia 2 years ago.
updated the phone yesterday and when turning on, it says "insert the correct sim card"
is there any solution to this besides sending the phone back to SE authorised dealer? |

Hi guys,
First some info;
A Sony Ericsson has 5 different locks not 2.
Secondly a phone will never lock itself just like that. You tried entering wrong unlock code for 5 times or more or you used bad software.
If this is not the case then you have hardware problem.
Btw you can check the status of your locks like this:
Get the phone lock data:
* Type: >*<<*<* on your phone (Where '<' and '>' are left and right menu button; if you have joystick like K750i push down instead of left and up instead of right)
* You will see a new menu now. Choose: 'Service Info'
* You will go into a new menu again, now choose; 'Sim lock'
Best regards,

If your phone is SIM locked, try using the SIMlock patch generator... Generate patch for your MAIN firmware... Then apply the patch using this tutorial:

It is for CID49 though.
