They are not future models but current japanese models that are more advanced than the european phones.

srr didn't see the previous topic.

I expressed myself wrong, I didn't mean future models, but I meant the models that are coming to EU(wich are already available in Asia)

He does have a point. :es: Japan handsets might just find their way over here as the competition hots up. I should think they would keep these tricks up their sleeve until the competition really hots up. All they really need to do is change the frequencies! Think SO505i - S700i. . . .

But anyway, Japanese cell phones aren't GSM, are they? I thought they had like their own special networks. A Japanese friend of mine once showed me her sony "docomo" cell phone and It didn't work anywhere but in Japan.

But like I said, the SO505i became the S700i and the V802se and V800 share hardware too. There has been cool high spec phones released their lately.

The so505i didnt become the s700i. hardware and software on them are completelyt different. they are as alike as the s700i and v800.

@JC. The so505i and S700i are both 1.3mp Swivel phones. Both similar size too. They use the same chassis.

There is a very good comparison thread here .

But the V800i is closer function wise. If SE japan make a flip with 1.3mp camera doesnt mean it is like the v800 (ok bad example as they have v802se, but you get my meaning).

@JC. Yes but the S700 is a GSM version of the very successful Japanese so505i. The S700 is an example of a Japanese model adapted and relaunched in the West.

A wise move as the S700 was highly acclaimed when (eventually) launched. Both have large 2.2" TFT screens and a swivel format.

It was redesigned and given a new UI because tastes were different and the Japanese phone was obviously older.

I thought the W31s would similarly be adapted. But Alas it was not to be.
