According to the leading mobile magazin in Sweden, there will be three new phones June 13. Among them is P1000:
• 3g
• 3 megapixel camera
• Blackberry support
• UIQ 3.0
• Wi-Fi support
• Built in GPS antenna

I guess I'll be buying myself a new phone soon
If it's 3g, it's mine
one more thing, i've heard that the apps made for UIQ 2.x will not work on UIQ 3.0. That means that there will be no apps available in the beggining and once there are, we'll have to buy them all over again. |

i really wish that sony ericsson made a p series for the windows 5.0 pocket pc version, that will sure be a killer, bcoz i like the p series design, just not a fan of symbian OS

how can you not like symbian, way WAY more stable than pocket pc. my pocket pc devices do nothing but crash all day long. real pain. |

Symbian is more flexible and reliable than windows pocket/mobile.
Anyway it says the next p series will be symbian. Which the majority of smartphone owners will be more than happy with.

without wishing to make this a windows mobile vs symbian debate I disagree.
I never had so many freezes or crashes on my pocketpc's that I had on the p series and the i-mate JAM rarely, if ever, plays up.
also, there is definitly more software available for the windows mobile platform.
I don't have figures but I also wonder the symbian smartphone market share vs windows mobile?

Sounds awesome, although I am reluctant to believe that are about to release my perfect phone!

One thing we must agree: Symbian is way simpler to learn and use than Windows Mobile.
I'm amazed how complex Microsoft made the OS!
So many settings and options hidden in complex menus and dialogs!
Windows it's definately NOT for most people. I mean people without much knowledge of computers and stuff.
I would rate the complexity of OSes like this
(from easy to complex of use):
Palm -> Symbian -> Windows Mobile
I like to have a Symbian phone.
I have enough Microsoft in my life already...

I reckon Symbian must have a larger share of the market, due to the sheer number of devices (admittedly mainly Series 60) available. However, I think this old debate has probably changed. I had big problems with my P800, less on my 900 and virtually none on the 910i, whilst I think Microsoft mobile platforms have also improved in terms of stability and random crashes (hoping to verify that with my newly-delivered MDA Compact!) - I'm not sure it's a question of stability so much any more, which means that, if you like the Windows mobile/PPC OS look-and-feel more than Symbian, there are very few reasons not to go for it anymore.
