Incontestably, 1020 improved in after black update, presenting more accurate colors and less noise... Now yes he deserves to be called pureview.
But it's still not the best cameraphone , since 808 has better performance in daytime photos (landscape or portrait) , better performance in scenarios where using flash is needed and better performance in full resolution mode (greater detail and sharpness), since 1020 has better performance in night shots and macro mode... But in general , all of the 808 images have more accurate colors, less noise and better dynamic range.
In summary, after the upgrade black, 808 remains a cameraphone note 9.5, since 1020 is a cameraphone note 9.
What we agree is a great achievement , because previously the difference in image quality was colossal, ie 808 one note 9.5... To 1020 cameraphone one note 7.5 
Ps: Bring on the Lumia PureView 1820 with 1-inch image sensor, Lytro camera, OIS and xenon flash (yes this will be a successor to the 808)

^ yes, its much better after the black update and especially RAW.. I saw today that Nokia released lightroom profiles for the 1520 and the 1020, very cool.
That rumor sounds too good to be true. The moment they release a cameraphone with 1" sensor I will be all over it  |

I've got some assshole as a friend in facebook that keeps making fun of me because I'm still using the 808 Pureview as my main phone, and bullies me constantly with screenshots of trendy apps taken on his Galaxy Note 3.
Any suggestions?

A few actually.... depending on your needs.... if you like the apps and they are truly something that would interest you, go get a Galaxy S4 and enjoy. If (like me) you could care less about the apps, then why let it bother you, simply ignore him or better yet un-friend him on facebook!

thanks for the advise! I don't really give a damn about apps, all i want is a phone with excellent battery life and the best camera possible in such small size, the 808 has all the features i need.

^ ya... the problem with the android fan base is that a lot of them fall into the younger/teenage group and they tend to hold very strong opinions.. its almost impossible to have a discussion I know that I am making a huge generalization here, but it is only my humble opinion.
I am guessing that your FB buddy is just messing with you.. so ignore him : ) For a lot of people out there Symbian remains a very good alternative, and for a lot of people its still a very good OS.
I've said here many times... Symbian is a very strong operating system and it works great on a mobile device. The issues with it were strictly political, not technical.

Have you guys notice iOS7 icons looks the helluva lot like Symbian Belle FP2 ? I was impressed looking at a friend's iPhone 5C today and the icons where like high res Symbian icons to me.

yes.. and overall I think apple took a very close look at Symbian 10.1 when they were making iOS7 : ) Which is a good thing..

Lol, the Android fanboy bit, anyway, thanks for those links, read through the 1st 2 already, making for a very interesting read, explains a hell of a lot including all the questionable decisions we saw Nokia and SE making in the mid to late '00s.

I have to admit that I am bit jealous.. it would be fun to test out the 1020
Since the built in weather widget stopped working (lame, Nokia.. ) I had to go back to using cWeather .. looks pretty good on an all black screen

.... You have the same two phones I chose (white 808 & 1020).... do you find yourself carrying both with you when you go out or have you made up your mind yet???
I find that during the week, I use my 1020 for the web browser and smart cam apps but on the weekend, I either have both phones with me or just the 808 due to it's IQ....
I'm really curious what other users do (which own both devices)... I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

Hi Mlife:
I usually carry them both (its cold, so I can carry them in my jacket). I prefer the 1020 for the multimedia functions (Instagram, Flickr, Facebook chat, Skype with videocall) and some photos. But 95% of the times, the 808 is my main camera as well as GPS. I love the natural colors and quick reload between photos, the Flash is much better and I prefer the Zoom in the 808. In the Lumia 1020 the Nokia's "Zoom Reinvented" is nothing more than a silly crop on a high megapixel photo.
I was considering the Z1 mini but after checking the Z1 camera samples, I went back to look for a Nokia replacement for my 808. The choice was the 1020 for the following:
*Lens almost the same size as 808.
*Nokia build quality
*Size (I hate phablets, they are just too big but also don't like anything too small/narrow like Lumia 800 or iPhone 5 /5s)
*I prefer WP over iOS and Android (but not over Symbian).
*I am really used to Nokia apps (Nokia Maps is an example).
*I have a very good relationship with Nokia PR team here in UK. If I want to trial a device, they never say no and send me phones to test for few weeks. No other company does that I think.
*To be honest, if I was looking for a new phone and my two most important features are camera and battery life, then why not continue with a Nokia device?
I think the 1020 is, camera wise, as good as the 808 if you manually tweak some of its settings. Also is a joy to use all the new apps (Cinemagraph, Nokia Camera Pro, etc). The latest Nokia Black update really helps a lot with the 1020 yellowish tint we all hate and controls the saturation down. Latest photos I've taken are awesome and the 1020 is finally a joy to use.
Makes sense to me to stay in Nokia. In an Android unfortunately, I would have been complaining about the camera and the pathetic battery life, and iOS is too closed.

I wouldn't buy any of the Sony's. I made the bad choice of signing a Three contract deal with a Z1. Camera in my view is a blurry mess. Nowhere near as good as advertised. Also the screen is poor  Nothing compared to the Nokia's
