How can you talk such rubbish.

Its a fault of some sort its only just started doing it. So your saying that its perfectly normal for the scrreen to turn off when your in midflow typing your txt message. I know it saves power if you dont type for a bit but it actually does it all the time when i write a message, the only way to get the screen to come back on is leave the phone till the keypad lights go off and then press your buttons agaion and it will come back on, usually going straight back off! GOD I HATE THIS PHONE!

At least your K850 screen still turn on sometimes, my k850 screen at first turn off when i pressed the number 9 on the keypad but it doesnt turn on anymore
So I think is a hardware problem.

Lucky us, we get free repairs and replacements for one more year. One thing I love is two year warranty.

Yesterday I wrote an email to Sony Ericsson Romania asking if there is any chance for a new firmware version for the K850i. The answer arrived today, minutes ago, and states something along the lines of "this information is not available from Sony Ericsson". Since I addressed the local representatives, I suppose that by "from Sony Ericsson" they mean the headquarters, the big daddy of all subsidiaries.
This is not unusual (for local SE not to know what the big SE is planning concerning a particular firmware). So all we can do is wait and run SEUS from time to time (and -- me in particular -- plan for my next non-SE phone).

Already took that step.... Tired of Sony Ericsson Bull towards its firmware issues on release and how they dealt with the k850. Good chance the k850 will end up like the p990.

Check out the HTC touch diamond if you are interested in a smartphone. The UI is far beautiful then any se phone todate even the x1. Also the phone is slim and very sleek.

With a damn poor battery life....

That is true but id rather spend 3hrs on my touch diamond and its beautiful interface then 12hrs on a se that keeps restarting, freezing, and blue screen of deathing on me lol

me three. twice a week is the most number of reboots from my phone.
And it happens during non-stop pressing alone.

Had 2 reboots since I updated to the latest firmware a couple of weeks ago, prior to that, I was getting 3 or 4 reboots A DAY!!

I frickin hate this phone. Still got another 8 months left on my contract aswell, I'm extremely tempted to sell it and get something else, don't care what it is aslong as it isn't this piece of crap. I don't think I'll be getting another Sony Ericsson for a long time after the problems with this.

Another thing, pretty much every time I try to charge my phone up, I get some sort of error message saying there has been a charging error or that I'm not using a Sony Ericsson battery (err, clearly I am, it came with the bloody phone!!). This phone is so bad I won't even be able to sell it, if anyone bought it off me they'd be banging my door down within a week wanting their money back!!

If say, my phone all of a sudden didn't work anymore, accidental damage of course, would I be able to put an insurance claim in and get a different phone or would I have to have another K850?

I'm pretty sure sony ericsson people read these kind of topics all over the internet. This is the way to see what the real users think of their phones. They aren't stupid and know these communities exists. It's important for decision making in most company's.

I think it's more a money problem. Sony Ericsson hasn't got good profits lately and developing firmware costs a lot. They judged the phone's working condition as acceptable. Focus is on new models now. Too bad for us, but we live in an over consumption society so they know we will buy a new phone every year.
