How stupid can they get, putting the fast post at the side. Don't any one of SE designers ever use these phones? This would make it sooo ergonomic to listen to music with the phone in your shirt pocket and the wired headphone sticking at the side!!!
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD |

Even just Holding or using the phone with wire sticking on the side would be uncomfortable.
But i know it's intentional because SE is promoting the use of bluetooth |

W760 at the Sony Ericsson Support page.
If W760 available at the support page, it means, that release of it will be soon - next Monday (26th of May).
Let's hope this is a good sign that it's still on course for that date, i don't think i can wait much longer now!!

lol, no, the picture is misleading. The wire of the headsets wont actually be perpendicular to the side of the phone, but parallel. (hopefully )

Yeah, that the way and it is actually quite comfortably if you are using your jeans's pocket. I don't know why people hate side fast ports so much. |

I find that Fastport to 3.5mm jack useless.Imagine ur using bose or shure heaphones or anyother headphones which doesnt come with microphone, Wht will u do when a call comes, U dont have mic attached to it.So when a call comes u have to take the phone out from pocket, disconnect the fastport. And attend the call, And then after call ends annoyingly music may start playing in speakers in some phones, and u have to reconnect the heaphones again back to listen to music, imagine if u get atleast 3 calls per hours wont it be tedious ? that destroy the music experience as well as making call handling difficult.

Hmmm , a lot of confusion about my post and "hi-tech" devices at all. Let me explain what I mean under technological leadership.
Each company have R&D and trying to develop unique product which will be not only unique but also usefull.
SE products always have highest average selling price (a small quantity of low end models, high demand from customers for high end products etc).
In the past strategy was clear and simple, provide to the market the best expirience, the new expirience. For instance, camera story begining from T610 and K750 was ahead of other products for 1 year. K790 around 3-4 months, k850 was on the market at the same time as Nokia N82... and 6-7 months later after Nokia N95...
Customers are waiting different things, we all are differ. But I could separate market on two segments:
- price/quality ratio - pepole who looking for handset with some features and reasonable price for that features. For instance, it could be average camera, wifi etc but reasonable price.
- quality seekers - people who are looking for the best expirience, for instance camera have to be the best one... if web browsing then the best one, etc...
In the past some of SE flagman products was positioning for both segments - and people like it, because you couldnt compare K750 with any other product of that time. All other companies just trying to create similar solution, but they out 12-14 months later.
What we see now? Nokia see SE as a real competitor and create direct competitor for each non-niche, mass market SE phone. K850-N82, G702 - N78 etc.
In the past Nokia product was on the market later and have higher price, less features. Now they out earlier, have more features (real GPS, real maps with navigation which are free of charge to use, etc), the same price as SE products or even lower price. What people will prefer? Products which are better in price/quality ratio? Definitely yes. Products which are coming on the market earlier? With more features? Yes. May be SE have for the same price something special? Something like brand awarness? No, I see that Nokia is a leading brand with higher brand awarness and customer loyality....
I don't like stupid SE strategy only for several reasons. Company imagine that Sony is the same brand as Nokia, it isnt true. When they decide not to invest money in services (like Nokia comes with Music - Sony is a record label which have a strong relationship with Nokia, not with SE, funny isnt'it?)? technology (like GPS - which are promoted heavily by Nokia), in gaming expirience (you now playstation? and you hear about NGage for sure).
SE are heavily try to make a lot of products for the niche segments. But people are waiting for better quality/price ratio or for technology leadership. SE loose momentum in both directions.
Walkman is great in terms of software, acsessories but so poor in terms of music quality. They are really think that 2008 is the same as 2005? Now, we have IceMobile on Samsung, dedicated sound chips on XpressMusic and more models to come from Nokia in this segment with Nokia Comes with Music (great expirience and I like PC software which will be the rival for iTunes for sure).
UIQ could be a point to turn negative tendency and create up to date products with great sw/hw. But SE decide that it is too hard to create unique products, they have to invest money in it (and ASP is down). No money for R&D in this direction and they decide to take some products from HTC. Funny, HTC will launch the same products as SE but earlier, for lower price and with stable SW. My X1 is not working now, and no any hint when X-Panels and other sw from SE will be ready. Rafael (copycat of Xperia from HTC) is working fine right now. Bad strategy, no understanding of market at all.
Yesterday, we discuss a lot of things with some guys from Lund. It is pity that SE have no vision of future market anymore. They have vision of Sony design (great design and spirit, btw), vision of Samsung chipsets and memory chips etc, vision of some product features... But not the vision of devices which we are need on the market as customers. Pity.
Samsung and Nokia are more reliable about future products and in terms of strategy than SE today. SE make even worse things they are trying to re-work roadmap and cancel all "hi-tech" devices which could be revolutuionized the market. The reason? Too complicated to develop, to complicate to support, a very few customers for it etc. The simple way is produce mass markeet devices with average features. There is no way in that direction for SE, in my opinion
