How do you remove it without damaging the case? Tutorial please!
I've read a blog about a guy who removes plastic lens cover and makes a comparison pic.
Purple fringing problem is gone!
Red to pink conversion happened due to low saturation. Use photoshop and increase saturation by 15-25. See what you get. I didn't know why SE can't fix this easy problem until now. It's all about camdriver.
Or we can use modded camdriver to get that fix.

With the K850 shot, I think the sun is in the wrong place IE it is creating the sunbeam effect on the lens cover of K850. Makes pics look washed out. I removed my plastic lens cover and noticed huge differences in daylight shots. Still makes pink reds though. Drives me nuts.
please give advice how to remove plastic lens cover...we all waiting...please help us |

I always thought that the purple/pink fringing was caused by the lens alone.
But SE should be able to lessen this effect via camdrive rendition.
Or maybe they think that there is no problem with their phone(?) |

Well, im not sure how I could do a tutorial as I have already remved mine, but it was so very simple. I had a small hex screwdriver (possibly t5? One size smaller than T6 anyways) and removed the two screws at the bottom where the hinge is (Battery cover). From here I proceeded to lift off the back housing (Carefully unclipping it along the sides exposing the internals. Here you have direct access to the lens cover. I carefully peeled it off (But keep the silver ring and stick back into the rear cover) and put it back together! Voila! Works a treat. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. All I know is its the best thing I have done to improve images from my K850.

I heard one guy just got his finger nails in between the glass and the sliver ring and popped it out, as it is only held together with a light piece of glue |

Sorry for double post but found some stuff that relates to all of this:
Tools required: Torx 6 screwdriver, Torx 5 screwdriver
* Using the torx 5 screwdriver remove the two screws which hold the battery cover in place, located where the screwdriver is pointing in the picture below
Sony Ericsson K850i disassembly stage 1
* With the battery cover now removed you can remove the back cover. Run a credit card all the way round the edge of the housing to release the clips which hold it in place
Sony Ericsson K850i disassembly stage 2
* Your phone should now be in 3parts, like below. Remove the two torx 6 screws at the top of the phone, circled in red. You can now release the front cover

Quote from sony a: Removing the Glass Lens cover was easy, it is just attached using a ring of sticky adhesive - just a bit of force loosens it easily. It can be replaced easily too, if you want to!

I have used that tutorial to replace the screen on one of mine, a credit card will work fine but itll prolly ruin the corners or the card as the phone actually is put together very tightly.

It's a common hardware failure for K850i. I have read some other people here got the same problem. Pay a visit to a service centre.
Other hardware problems may be:
- lens cover fail to open or the otherwise
- dust accumulation under camera glass cover
- softkeys do not respond at all
- broken D-Pad
That's why K850i is not a success. Although not all users experience them, these flaws are surely the stigma. |

A problem exactly like that one cost me 120 euros. New lcd, new keyboard (both keys and sensors) and new front cover... |
