I wonder why doesn't use these OLED display with international phones, does this because japanies don't keep thier phones as much as rest of the world do ( as OLED are short in life ) ?

AFAIK a OLED display should last at least 2-3 years if permanently in use. And since the most people change their primary phones every one or two years I don't think it would be a problem using this displays in international devices.
Japan is just too much ahead of the rest of the world in the category of technics cause their demands are bigger.

Edit: Why did they remove the red color

If the video really is two years old as many are saying, then this phone is obviously a concept phone..

or could it be shiho?? Perhaps "A300" is A200 optimized for touch UI.. Again, dreaming..

I was just wondering:

Had it occured to anyone that this set of phones that SE's lining up for us were create during miles flint era?

If so, then we have to wait for the new phones that will be created by the new head (mr.dick something)

so no announcmenmt tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
hoping for imp leaks tomorrow!!!!!!!!
@mizzle, pk
and on m-r emp has wrriten this
Same here, I was a big fan of the P900 & P910, but SE's UIQ devices seem to have been in a steady decline since the heyday of these devices.[/quote]

Is UIQ going down?
Conspiracy theory nr 1:
Has mum and dad( Ericsson and Sony) told Miles Flint that UIQ is going down the drain?
Is UIQ is too small to survive the transision from phone to
PCSP(Personal Computing Smart Phone).
MS Mobile and Symbian S60 has 20-40 times more 3rd part apps.
Its not a good sign that the latest and the greatest from SE is a phone made by HTC with an OS from M$. ( Its a complicated world when Ericsson sell EMP-Ericsson Mobile Platform to HTC and Sony Ericsson buys it back...)

What has happen after SE dont focus on UIQ:
1. Miles quits in protest and the “bulldozer” Hideki "Dick" Komiyamas takes his place.
2. Highend phones gets MS Mobile
3. UIQ Sony Ericsson phones withdrawing from NTT DoCoMo
4. Sony Ericsson’s Head of Marketing Dee Dutta has resigned
5. Per Aspemar has resigned, Lund, Sweden – May 7, 2008 – Per Aspemar, currently Head of Corporate Strategy at Sony Ericsson, is appointed CEO of Teknoseed, the leading provider of venture capital to early stage research based companies in Southern Sweden, as of June 4. Per joined Ericsson Mobile Phones 1996 which became Sony Ericsson 2001. He has held various VP-level positions for the last 9 years including Head of Business Unit Accessories, Head of Smartphone Product Development, Deputy Head of Global Software Development, and for the last 3 years Head of Corporate Strategy where his responsibilities include M&A. He was a board member of Symbian Ltd from June 2002 to April 2008, and Chairman of UIQ Technology AB from February 2007 to April 2008.

Within 6 months the CEO+ Head of Marketing+
Head of Corporate Strategy(he was also board member of Symbian Ltd and
Chairman of UIQ Technology)

Its not a good sign...

And Hideki "Dick" Komiyama is backstabbing highend UIQ phones, 2008-04-23.

Chocking info from Sony Ericsson
-- Last year's plans rejected
Sony Ericsson's CEO Dick Komiyama has launched a review of the entire product portfolio. Each project is to be evaluated. The models must now be aligned with the West's new demands for cheaper mobile phones is his tough message.

Sony Ericsson will retain forecast for 2008
[2008-04-23 09:04]
Sony Ericsson's new CEO Dick Komiyama has launched a full review of Sony Ericsson's entire product portfolio. The plans outlined by the end of last year are no longer applicable.

The dramatic announcement, he left during the morning's teleconference. The data did not exist in the written report of the year's first quarter. The statement may be significant effects for all Sony Ericsson utvecklingsingenjörer, the majority stationed in Lund. Any plan must now be reviewed.

"We broadened our portfolio at the end of last year. But that changed market demand and prices fell. It was not a welcome signal, he said during the teleconference, he said during the morning's teleconference.

-- This is why we are now evaluating which of our models to be launched in the second half of 2008 and first half of 2009. Some models may be eliminated in favor of adding resources on other things. The evaluation is complete for a few months, he said.

The overall review should be seen as a consequence of Sony Ericsson's profitvarning March 19. As reported the company of much worse-than-expected demand in the more expensive models in Europe.

Sony Ericsson said today the decline of consumers in the West are no longer prepared to pay as much for a mobile because of the financial situation.

Sony Ericsson will be continuing the great investment in research and development, but stops now up to determine where the venture can have the greatest impact.

so is this the real reason behind delay in announcment of high end phones??

Will SE ever get anything right? This statement is just not true. Nokia, iPhone and other WM based high end phones seem to be doing quite well, it's just SE that is suffering which doesn't come as a surprise. This seems familiar somehow, to always put the blame somewhere else...
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD

None of this is surprising. I mean how many shit faulty phones were SE going to get away with releasing before a story like this comes out. If you ask me the writing has been on the wall for ages and its about time. They cant get anything right and the stuff what they do bring out is old rehashed tecnology that isnt even fixed on its previous iterations - same bugs and all.

For all the blind fanboys in here I hope this serves as a wake up call.

PS This is the real storm that has been coming for some time hehe

Sounds like a feeble excuse to cover their equally feeble high-end offerings.

Really poor show.
