Nononononononooooooooooooooo!
I really really must step in and put a hold to this. You lot can ridicule, take the piss out of, annoy and pretty much do anything you please the those disgruntled P800 owners, but do not, I repeat DO NOT encourage them to buy a P900!!!
I cannot stress this enough!
Because if you do, 9 months from now, those very same ppl will be posting 3 threads a day about 's betrayal, and how the P900 is an obsolete phone because the P1000 is essentially the same but in a modern fashionable lilac cover. Therefore, it is most annoying that will not allow the new and improved hard- and software to be added on the now so hurtingly UNfashionable P900....... which they bought for lots of money and is now rendered useless.
We..... poor sods that still come to esato by then..... will be tormented once again by them winey buggers!
I will not tolerate it! I say we eliminate them now before they get another shot at it

Damn well said. It's sick when useful technology becomes a matter of fashion and showing-off for some people. |

Dear Vlammetjie,
If new models were never released by Sony Ericsson or any other manufacturer, we would not be where we are today, in which case, the lack of progress would still mean that we would live in caves and use a club to bring home a date.
Nokia does it, and so does every other manufacturer, so why not Sony Ericsson? If they were'nt in the business of making money, they would'nt exist in the first place.
At least Sony Ericsson did'nt have the audacity of doing something to the effect of the Nokia 7250, and then the 7250i, about a month later. And you don't actually hear about Nokia 7250 owners crying about this, and demanding a free replacement, or an upgrade?
I work for Carphone Warehouse, and I see this all the time.
Sorry to sound harsh, but this is how business works.
New products WILL be released.
Products would eventually be superseeded by something else, and thats just the way its going to be, and thats NEVER going to change.

I'll just say it again if I may:
@Devilishcry Are you still happy with your topic? I mean your freedom of speach and stuff...?

Dear Shreez,
I am sorry I did not manage to make it clear and obvious to you, that I not only already know how business works, I have no problem with it whatsoever.
I politely suggest you read again what it is that I said, because it most certainly wasn't anything alng the terms of me myself being disgruntled in any way. In fact.... i am mature enough to purchase a new product when I feel I need one

The thing is, if you buy a new phone, give it 3 weeks and a better, more colour, higher res. camera, cooler sounds and other features you wish your phone had phone will come out. Face it, when I bought my T300, it was outdated about a month later by a new one. So I only had a month of saying - look at my phone, isnt it great! THe P900 users can do that for a while and when the P1000 comes out, they will all go, "Will the P1000 firmware fit on my P900?". And there will be about 3 million treads about it until the next P... comes out... when P1000 users will start again "Will the firmware of P.... fit on my P1000!
Phew, that was hard!

I truly think that this thread, and the subject on the whole has reached a dead end.
I don' think that there would ever be winning arguement to this issue which would satisfy both parties.
And, as I am a firm believer of freedom of speech and crap like that (no, seriously, now wipe that smirk off!), and everyone is of course entitled to their own opinion.........my opinion is that I still feel that Sony Ericsson have done nothing wrong.
I would not deny for even a second, that I did not feel shortchanged when I heard about the release of the P900, and my much loved state-of-the-art phone, had been swept under the carpet as being flavour of the week.
But when I did think about it, it was about 9 months down the line....and not just a few weeks at I pointed out earlier which is the preferred approach from Nokia.
And I, like a lot of the other people here, just decided to go ahead and buy the P900, and its amazing how kind it is to the skin...............gets rid of those wrinkled fore-heads almost immediately.................

The P900 is to the P800, what Windows 98 was to Windows 95. Sure, it looked nicer, and had some extra features, but underneath all that glossiness, it was essentially the same operating system.
And if you wanted it, you went out and bought it.
I upgraded my P800 to a P900. My method is 100% foolproof, and you end up with all of the features of SE's current top of the range handset.
How did I do this? I went out and bought one.
Please - the horse is dead. Do we really need to flog it more? |

@Red_Five, you can take a horse to water, but you can't make the B**STARD buy a P900!

scotsboy, your days must be very long. i don't want to take away what little pleasure you get from posting here, so do carry on posting "nonsense". i'm sure that's what we all come here for. it's so very funny, i wonder why i even bother having a life - let alone cable - when i can just come here to a mobile phone discussion forum and endure your amusing repartee.
to the rest of you, you seem to think you are posting in some other thread, where everyone is attacking SE and demanding free upgrades. if you care to read this one again, that isn't actually happening - although you're quite welcome to start such a thread if you prefer.
i'm more interested in why - since we now know that the P800 can run UIQ 2.1 - it hasn't been made available in some form, perhaps for purchase. this doesn't need to have anything to do with SE, as far as I can tell, since UIQ itself is not an SE product. I don't expect some company in portsmouth (who built most of my PC) to dictate what version of windows I run, after all.

you know what would be awsome? If we could buy the p900 casing and instead of an electric keypad, we could get like a keypad similar to the p800 method (by pushing the screen) but get it to look like the p900's then we'd be set.
You have to admit, the style of the new one pushed you into buying it lol..
I guess I'm going to be an idiot and have the p800, p900, and 'p1000' all in my pocket. (better get a bigger pocket)
