To begin with, I was a very excited reader of the two posts that was blocked a couple of hours back, which was about the updating of the our beloved P800's into the latest, yet more powerful P900's firmware to make it endure the same features as the P900. And this was proved by videos posted by 'switchbitch' in that closed post, which clearly shows him (or whoever it was) working on the same firmware present in the P900, but on a P800.
Of course, we all know that the updater on the Sony Ericsson server cancels the update procedure if a P800 is detected instead of a P900, we also know that 'switchbitch' did it somehow and worked, moreover, we are even more aware about Sony Ericsson's claims of a 'second processor' in their P900 (which I personally don't believe), that makes the P900's firmware impossible to fit in a P800.
However, it is even not fair, everybody remembers how much we paid for a P800 at that time (I myself, paid around 750 Euros at that time), and now less than a year later, the SAME, I REPEAT SAME, phone appears with a different screen and look and more memory, thats all. And speculations said that because of those new things in the P900, the P800 cannot host its firmware! Is it true? Not much, its Just that Sony Ericsson wants us to pay more for a new phone, in fact they want us to pay for new FEATURES not new phone, which is equivalent to what we paid on our P800's, and therefore, avoiding the T68m--->T68i conversion.
Is there any point to this sad story? Yes, it is to buy the P900! Sony Ericsson is starting to get infected from Nokia I guess. Afterall, we P800 users shall not get this kind of treatment such that we feel 'cheated' in our phones because the P900 is out, infact, an updater for the P800 should also be made, just like the P900, becuase some people feel that the P800 is just a 'prototype' of the P900!
Sorry for such a long post, but it makes me angry to get cheated on something which may happen but stopped from happening for some reason in favour of us.
Thanks you for reading through, and please give me you feedbacks!!
Cheers!

why do you feel entitled to get a free upgrade.you were happy enough with the phone when you bought it and right upto the day they released the p900.does se have to do anything NO they dont the.the t68-t68i was the exception not the rule and this was only done as mobile operators werent ready to launch mms but ericsson wanted to be first to market with a color phone.
you dont see t610 users on here all the time demanding a new screen or my friends added to there phone.
your phone still works i assume its still one of the best phones in the market place i assume you can still get third party apps for it in which case enjoy it till you can afford or want your next new phone |

Sure it would be nice to have P9 f/w on a P8 but I don't feel it is responsibility to make it so. If they did that all the time they'd never release new phones, just updates for the old ones. Then there'd be something to complain about.

I just got to ask one thing...
It puzzeles me every time discussions like this come up:
Do people think , Nokia, Motorola, Siemens, Alcatel, microsoft, Dell, HP, Compaq and so on and so on play shop?
New products are developed all the time to be sold, for the companies to make money, to pay thier employees, to feed their families...
Come on! If you want a better product that what you got at the moment you'll have to expect to buy it, as in pay for it.
This is just going a bit OTT now!
That is what I think.

There is one thing that is important to note, the Px00 phones are basically a handheld computer, which lets you install software and do multimedia stuff, bla bla..
Point is, when you get yourself a PC. You can still upgrade your OS at your wish or even update the motherboard bios firmware (which is free) at your wish aswell. So why is it sooo bloody hard for Se to provide us with the firmware? EVEN IF WE HAVE TO PAY FOR IT!!! (we should still be given the opportunity to buy it) One way to look at it is, hell if we like it that much, we might just go out and buy the p900 after that hmm?
How about giving a discount to P800 owners who have proof of purchase for their phone, or in my case phones(I have 2 P800's) It would still add to their overall volume in sales, and they would still make money on accessories. That would make their numbers look better in the longrun. More "Volume" looks better than your "Profit Margin"
ARE YOU READING THIS SONY ERICSSON! GET A CLUE!!!

You are getting the same care as any owner.
The difference is that you have another product than the one you want.
