The body of the VII is thicker than the previous generation model, and the camera module seems to protrude more.

@spektykles
Could you please clarify, since you know, what the aspect ratio and resolution of the phone is? Your post with 16:9 has confused everyone a bit!!! Thank you

I think it's likely for lens to project to sensor , also hope they enlarge and maximize vapor chamber size.

they image they are using to represent the VII is not official. doesn't even have all the markings and "clues" that other "leaks" have been using to predict features. I wouldn't take this as fact, but if it turns out to be true, i wouldn't mind it being a little thicker as i have fat fingers!

thicker camera protrusion is not a bad thing either. more space for more camera goodies, which is definitely good news for users.

may can't come soon enough!

Clearly not 21:9

Walkman are not just skin deep
A longer focal length for tele, maybe?

And shiny XM6s for May

that would be lovely if shiny new XM6s are bundled with the VII.

no 21:9 is sad.

I've been told early May, although not sure if this source is reliable.

Every decade or so Sony streamlines their product lines to focus on high end. Then they spread out into mid to low tier markets and once their economy products fail time and time again they reset to flagship products. If you are a Sony fan you already know their flagship products in the line up are one to buy. Everything else competition offers for less money.

I think they will utilize same display as xperia 1VI. That display is good! I rather they not sacrifice battery life for 4k and use this display. Unless they can breakthrough same battery life with same or better quality 4k display. With added walkman it will be more draining .

@spektykles
But then, what was the point of your previous post where you claimed (ironically) that the screen ratio would be 16:9 and that you couldn't believe your eyes? You couldn't believe that they had left the same form factor as the previous model? Is that all?

Leaked! 3D render!
https://sumahodigest.com/?p=36499

https://www.xpertpick.com/mob[....]-cad-renders-360-degree-video/

Sony Xperia 1 VII specifications, price (rumoured)
According to other reports, the Xperia 1 VII’s OLED panel will support a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 4K resolution, and a 120Hz refresh rate. It will come preloaded with Android 15, like recent flagship phones.
Under the hood, the Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered phone will offer 12GB / 16GB of RAM, 256GB / 512GB of storage, and a 5,000mAh+ battery with 30W fast charging support.
On the front, it will feature a 12-megapixel selfie camera. The camera module on the back will have an OIS-assisted 48-megapixel primary camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 12-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with a 70-200mm focal length.
Expected to break cover in May globally, the Xperia 1 VII is likely to carry a starting price of $1,399.

Also , is this photo taken by xperia 1vii?

Why is camera bump even thicker this time around? VI camera bump was bigger and thicker compared to 1V only for aesthetic reasons to compliment wider body. But VII being this thick doesn't make any sense.

Better cooling??
Bigger telephoto sensor thus need bigger prism and thickness to house both to reflect image to sensor thus contribute to thicker body likely.

i like that the camera lenses/glass are more recessed back from the surface of the camera bump. Reduces chance of damage and glare. Kind of acting like a micro hood. hah.

Getting excited now! $1400 pricetag is painful though. Bundling it with new headphones doesn't help much considering it's still gonna be a $1000-1100 phone.
