If Sony were to move their models to Mediatek chipsets, would people be against this? Like the Dimensity 9400 for example?

Would that be the new Pro? I hope so.
I've seen the Xperia 10 on sale absolutely everywhere in the last few months. I'd expect a new version this year.

Normally, we find two model numbers at this time of year. But this time there is only one so far (PM-150x-BV). So, it is not impossible that there is only one model. |

The last phone on the fcc is the xperia 1 VI, with no other new devices since end of July. The PM codes are from gizmochina. No idea what their track record is with rumours.
OF course, just because something is not on the FCC doesn't mean it was delayed or cancelled. Most of Sony's devices appear around march, and some in the fall, but Sony has changed their plans, then who knows when we'll see a new device certified.
