Oh, Miss UK, there is an issue with my W810 that only became apparent recently as I've started to use my W810 as my music player. Every now and then, there'll be a loud popping sound and there'll be an error message saying Playback failed. That is a concern to me as I was just starting to enjoy using my W810 as my music player. The sound quality is pretty good. |

i was going earlier: "until it starts conking out". unfortunately, sony ericsons are never "stable and bug free".
that's one of the reasons why i won't get an SE - i imply can't trust them to last as long as 18 months like i can with a moto or a samsung. |

Well, to be fair, my W810 has been a solid performer so far. I've been very pleased with it and would gladly give the newer phones a miss just to continue using it. |

owned a K610i for 2 years. initially it had some minor hiccups. but after about 2 firmware updates it worked perfectly.
now i'm using a K800i. no bugs so far.
doesn't matter whether you own an SE, nokia, samsung, or any other brand, they all have their own faults/bugs. some are just more troublesome(i.e. K850) than others.

I used to use my ex P910i as a MP3 player the sound was very good,
never had any probs with it what-so-ever
Deluded try re-installing the firmware again I pressume you can also do this on as ive done this on my N95-2 cos I also had a few hiccups with fw on that for abit too lol
W980i should ideally drop price fast as it ideally isn't worth £269.99 well I don't think so anyway, the more reasonable price for it is £169.99 if that

Hmm... I don't think a firmware update would solve that hissing and popping noise as well as the "Playback failed" error message as I have only recently updated to the latest firmware version. The problem was there in the previous firmware as well, but it did not really bother me as I didn't used to use my W810 as my MP3 player. In any case, the other functions are working fine, so I'll just use it as it is. I'm considering the K630 though, as the W902's not out yet and I'll probably give it a good half a year or so for the price and firmware to settle down first anyway.

I've had the K810i since it came out, and never had a problem with it. I know two people who got the Samsung U600 on contract, and both phones died before the contract was even over.
That said of course, I do know someone who got the W580i on contract for 18 months, and it died in about 6!! Some handsets are just better than others I guess. 's build quality is going down, but not on all it's models.

I think SE phones are poor when they are first released, both build quality and software. Both of these improve over the phone's life.

I've tried several different memory sticks but they've all had the same issue. So if it's indeed due to a contact problem, then it must be the contacts on the phone's card slot which I have no access to. In any case, that's a small issue to me. As long as my W810 performs well in all other aspects, I'll stick with it.
I'm about to get my Z770 back from the service centre for the fifth time, and all due to the same problem. I hope they've resolved it once and for all, cos I've been very patient with them and if I have to bring it back one more time, I think it'll be justified if I lose my temper. Besides, if I didn't have my W810 and my Z770 was my only phone, I'd be a very, very upset customer.
Now, more importantly, when I get my Z770 back, should I keep it or should I stick to my W810 and sell the former while there's still some value for it? And if I do sell it, should I get a new phone? I'm quite tempted to do so, and I'm attracted to the E51. Or if I decide to give SE another chance, perhaps I'll get the K630. |

So it's a case of live with it :s
lol i'd personally get rid of the other one coming back,
fifth time in repair? there ment to replace them after the 3rd I thought
look at the value of your phones and see how much you can sell private,
looking at all this bother lately with prices coming and going then you never know what your gunna get!
£100/$200 will get you something dead good across here now phones are dropping like flys in price have a look in the bargain phone thread for proof

I've just gotten it back yesterday and it seems fine now. Apparently, they've replaced the motherboard, or that's what the person told me. Now that the issue's resolved, I'm pretty tempted to keep it, but we'll see how it goes. If it acts up again, it won't be going in for servicing for a sixth time. |

I'm using my Z770 as my mp3 player on my way to work now. It sounds pretty alright, at least it doesn't have the hissing sound that my W810 has, or maybe it's less audible. But it has the same "Playback failed" error message. I wonder if it could be due to my mp3s. Hmm... I encode my mp3s at 256kbps cbr, has anyone encountered the same issue? I'm using a different card, by the way. So if it isn't due to my phone and memory card, the only common factor I can find here is my mp3. |
