I reckon that dust is getting in through the back cover and not the glass. Otherwise you'd see dust on more than the lens/shutter opening. Really bad form SE. Surely they would have picked this up in pilot phase.
There is a gasket in the phone between the battery compartment and the camera housing. So i don't think the dust is getting in there. |

Well I got a brand new K850i sent to me by o2 to replace the dusty one. I put it on an eBay and got a stonking £270 for it!
I then bought a PAYG K810i for £99.
Problem solved! |

I'm having the same problem as many others except I have about 100 specks of dust, nevermind 3! I'm going to go and get an exchange now if I can.

After three days my 3rd K850 is not getting dust behind the lens cover. And I've been especially careful not to expose it to dusty places.
This really is not very good for their top of the range camera phone. |

Is the dust really that much of a problem?
I got all sorts of funghi growing under my k750 lens but it doesnt affect image quality at all. |

why should they wait a few months if they already have bought the phone? |

I'm on O2 in the UK. I have a lot of dust under the glass lens cover. I'm outside the 28 days (but not by a lot). Where do I stand with getting it sorted out or getting a replacement? Is it really worth trying to get a replacement if I was able to? I have no other real problems with the phone at all apart from this. |

the dust IS NOT A PIC QUALITY ISSUE....its just anoying.....(it will not make the pics worse..maybe if you have a lot of dust of course, but if you only have some super small dots..it dosent make any different.

@plankgatan
So now you are saying it is no problem as it's just some dust, If this was happening to yours what would you do accept or ask for a new unit?
Sorry but this is just absurd it's a really expensive Flagship product and just should not be happening there is no way anyone should put up with what is obviously a build defect to suggest otherwise is crazy.

I have had this phone for a month plus and did not have this 'dusty' issue.
I thought i was one of the few lucky ones.
But i was so wrong.
Today while cleaning my phone, i spotted 3-4 specks of dust under the screen(Infront of lens)
The pic quality, apparently wasn't affected when i see it on my phone.
But maybe it will turn out different when being blown out on the computer...

i been taken photographs for along time, (now i mean with system cameras...not cell phones) and i have NEVER seen any difference in my pics because of some dust dots...GUESS how many dust dots you have inside a real system camera ?????? the thing is that you dont notice them, (they sit between the lens & the house)...do you think this dust dote makes the pic worse ????? of course not................
sure, if you have the whole lens full with dust it make some difference....but mostly its a couple of them..(not hundreds)
so once again...in this case, its mostly anoying

When i got the K850i before returning it cos i thought it was pants for such a allegedly premium product i thought the build quailty was shoddy. Sony Ericsson have gone off the boil for me. Nokia rules. Lol sorry. But im just loving my Panasonic proper digital camera now.
