Mine did too for some reason, so all I backed up was my contacts and multimedia and stuff, wouldnt work with selecting settings, and the others, cant remember what they are.
Seemed really quick until I restored my backup. |

If you have previously made back-ups then this can cause a back-up failure. (can't remember the reason given - time out maybe? )
Delete all the previous backups before starting a new one (making copies of the "backup folders" first if you want to be extra careful )

Hooray!
So when Voda repeatedly told me that they were not going to use SEUS,:
a) they were lying
b) my (and others) complaining got them to reconsider (!)
c) they didn't actually know what they were going to do and just made it up
I did a backup of everything except settings, did the update, then restored the backup and everything seems to be working just fine!

guys we should be talking about whats better in the new update. I think we all get the jist about the back ups. One person underlined what you have to do to backup successfully. Lets leave it at that.
Now back to the main point, the new voda f/w update has definately improved the connection to the web. Much faster than the old f/w.
Would be good if anyone else has realised any major differences. |

Just completed update to R7A001/RaF01/R3B01/R3A01 with no probs
I've not noticed anything better performance wise, although internet loads up bit quicker [just wish I could set my own Web Hompage rather than the Sony default one] and RAM free is much higher than before despite having multiple apps running - strange!
Initial boot-up is quicker too...took over a minute beforehand.
To be honest I never had many issues since purchase 2 months ago so fingers crossed for the future |

I updated the software and also noticed that the phone runs smoother and that you have more available RAM left when doing multiple things... which is a defo PLUS
Defo a good update... to have
Cheers

Hi everyone, i installed the update yesterday and found dramatic improvemnt in RAM management. It runs alot smoother too. I can now configure the hardware buttons which is a plus compared to the previous firmware. However, the phone has restarted once "to improve performance". ALthough whether that means anything i dont know because with the previous firmware the phone restarted only a few times in the month that i had it.

It's great news that Vodafone are using SEUS for this update - bodes well for us Vodafone M600i users...
I'm not surprised to hear that Voda's version of the current P990 software works better than the generic version - from what I've read, even the Vodafone R4 version I have on my M600i is quicker and more stable than the current R9 version on standard M's. As annoying as the branding can be, it seems in this instance there's actually an upside to having the "network approved" version. |
