I think it is the K750 fans who are pushing the comparison with N90 not the other way around. It is obvious to most people (except certain diehard K750 fans) that these 2 phones belong in 2 different category. My analogy is that the K750 is an advance calculator and N90 is a computer. So what's the point in comparing??  |

Hahaha! Sorry but i'm a network engineer and computer tech, and i wouldn't compare a smartphone to what i think of as a computer! No one is comparing a smartphone to a non-smartphone, what they are saying is the much vaunted ability of a smartphone is of not much more use to them than a regular phone like the k750. A smartphone may be more usefull to u but but not everyone feels that way. Many of us probably have as much tech ability as u or more, but they don't need a smartphone to prove it.

well said max. So SE should scrap its smartphone UIQ3 smartphones because majority have no use for it. hahaha.
btw: I just hope that SE fans would NOT say that majority of people would have use for smartphones when SE does come out with one. |

Mate everything is black and white with you. I said MOST people, not all people. Most people don't have a need for it yet, hence it doesn't translate to sales. That doesn't mean there is NO market for smartphones, just a limited market.
Most people don't want to spend hours searching the net for apps that give their phone utility. Or have to spend more money on those apps. They want it built into the handset at purchase.
The more you argue for smartpones, the more you convince me that smartphones will allways be a niche market and never become highly popular. Hardware technology changes so quickly that when people want new ability in their phone they'll just buy a cheap non-smartphone handset that can already do all they require, rather than have to buy an expensive smartphone whose hardware will be out of date in a year regardless of what apps they can install on it..

k750i is nothing but a k700 with 2mpx, msd inside!!!

You can't comparing them from a technical perspective, it's like oranges and apples. You can however compare them on usability grounds, and in those stake, SOME of us think the K750 is better for our needs than a brick of god damned smartphone.....
@datx, absolutely. The K750 is WAY ahead of the K700, and I doubt any of the peeps who claim it isn't have ever really compared the K700 to the K750. 2MP Camera and memory expansion and Activity Button. Three little things, but BIG in usefullness.

I got a feelin that this massive market for consumer electronics is one big conspiricy, a lot of companys these days are just filling our pockets with usless devices, i mean mobiles phones are good, now you get them with camras, this is also good for spare of the moment pics, but 2.0,3.2 and 5.0 mega pixals?! If your gonna do photogaphy buy a camra dedicated to it, smart phones?! i dont even get it, buy a PDA? PDA's!!?? not quite a laptop to big for a phone, LAPTOPS! wait till you get home! lol

mib, if you look at the cameras on their own, then you can certainly compare them. And the K750 comes out on top for stills, the N90 for video 
But that ignores the smartphone capability, and isn't that the basis of your argument that the phones can't be compared?  |

For me a smartphone is great and I love my Nokia 6260, but for me a camera is more important hence why Im getting the W800i. I was going to get the N90 untill I found out that it doesn't have virbrate, which to me is critical as I carry my phone in work (which is banned). So my search lead me to the W800i as I like the design and having a PSP already, I can share memory cards between the two. The N90 is no more a innvation than the K750/W800. The N90 is just a fancy top of the market upgrade to the 6260, even down to its twisting. The N91 however is a new device. It doesnt look like any other Nokia. Where as the N90 & K70/W800 are upgrades the N91 is a new device. Wi-fi, HDD, ability to steam music over wi-fi all make it a great new device.
As for the debate over smartphones and mobiles, well at the end of the day the public will decide not us guys & girls that know phones. And so far they've voted against smartphones. With Nokia's effort to force its public onto S60 devices could back fire as much as the wacky designs. Nokia is making efforts to please parts of the markets, etc silders, non-camera phones, smartphones, where as SE makes a great design that everyone can love. The problem Ive heard from friends is that they like there phones to be different. Used to be they'd stay away from Nokia's cause everyone had them, Im now hearing that about the K750 and W800. |

My point is that many K750 fans seems to think that since the K750 is slightly better than N90 in camera stills (and smaller!!) then K750 would whack the sales of N90. I am just saying this may not be the case. Those people that are targeted by N90 (i.e. tech-savvy with high expectation of functionalities/customisation) may not even consider K750 as an alternative in the first place as K750 is too rudimentary to them. SE phones are not in these customers radar as SE just dont have anything that is in the same league as the Nseries.
You keep saying majority of buyers dont know what is a smartphone and dont have a need for them. This statement is superfluous. Am I correct to say your "majority" is about 85-90% of phone buyers? Of course N90 (or any smartphone) is not targeted at this group. It is targeted at the top 10-15% who are tech-savvy power users. And these translate to something like 100million customers per year. And this number will keep growing year by year.
btw: the profile of SE buyers (due to Sony name tag) are skewed towards the upper-end. So this 10-15% may translate to something like 15-20% of SE potential customers. So SE can kiss good-bye to this group.
So like the K700, the K750 is likely to compete against the like of 6230i and upcoming 6270/6280 and NOT Nokia smartphones. This is evident in the price of K750. |
