Nokia N90 Success in Doubt? |

ESATO NEWS
Despite Nokia's recent claims of production shortages of its much-hyped N90 camera phone due to strong initial demand, UK based mobile research, Mako Analysis, firm has speculated that these shortages are more likely to be as a result of small production volumes following poor operator feedback rather than rampant end user market demand.
The main drawback of this clamshell device however will be its overall bulk. Mako Analysis point out that weighing in at a hefty 173g, the N90 is almost twice as heavy as some of Nokia's more popular mid range models and even with the clam shell shut it is still bigger than Nokia's latest 3G offering, the 6680.
A Mako Analysis spokesman put forth his view by saying, "Nokia are clearly wishing to offset the form factor drawbacks of the device by emphasising its market leading imagery credentials. If we take a look at the market context however, 2 mega pixel camera phones have been for sale in the European market since the start of the year and Sony Ericsson's latest mid range models offer a competitive camera lens specification while showing clear improvements over the N90 in terms price, weight and style. With Sharp releasing a 3.2 mega pixel 3G device later on this month and circulating rumours of a 5 mega pixel Samsung device by the end of the year, competition in the space will be fierce and the N90 will have to rely heavily on its brand kudos to generate significant sales."

Why am I not too surprised
Id like to see what the blokia fans, who've been starting threads on the Nseries versus the k750i of all phones, have to say now...and there's no doubt about the success of the k750i |

There is no doubt about the fate of the Naught-90 - It will simply remain a model in the company's lineup, and will be purchased either by folks who r filthy rich or those who have no mind.
Comeon, folks, how many 6260s, 6170s and 7710s do we see around us in our daily life? And considering the fact that the 90 is bigger than anything else we have ever seen, and twice as bid as a P900, what is it's practicality? |

I think it is K750 fans who started the comparison of K750 and N90. I think no Nokia fan in their right mind would compare a 3G smartphone with run-of-the-mill K750 (aka K700 with better cam). There is no comparison. In terms of tech N90 much more advanced than K750. |

when you look at the photos between N90 and W800 im amaze. even with the Carl Zeiss lens, n90 doesn't perform as well as w800. |

He he he. Nokia are now offering free phone-carrying rucksacks and a personal trainer to weaker customers who have been duped into buying this gargantuan, breeze-block sized phone.

All the reviews everywhere on the net, ALWAYS say that the pictures taken with a SE cell phone are among the best or simply THE BEST. And it shouldn't be a surprise considering the experience Sony has with its digital cameras division which of course is put to good use in the SE cell phones.
Anyway, I'm aware that nokias are good cell phones but in my opinion they are very 1990. For some reason I just think of Sony Ericsson, Motorola or even Siemens of being more "modern"...

too many moving parts which can break doesnt help. drop in 'folded out Cam mode' and you fooked!
