Hey guys...is it true that SE decided that K850 will be phase-out? Can anyone confirm this? |

same question. My bro just got a k850i. He wants to debrand it to a newer firmware. The interface is sooo slow at times!
Also, is the dev team (XS++) the only ones working on the ability of adding flash menu themes to the k850i's?

Hehe, funny why its taking the XS++ dev team so long to get theirs out of beta. I'll bet that ALL the A200 platform models emitt issues to flashing during testing that they've probably bricked a few expensive phones, and they're just fed up as we are with the K850i and others that have the BROD/Blue Screen or line of Death.
After 150 pages ago - me defending and the K850i - I've finally had a reboot issue, yes the new multi-language firmware (from Davinci) R1F035. In the Media app, playing any Mp3/AAC track of your choice, while listening to the HPM-82's (with Silent Mode auto selected when inserted) and try pressing the Call button (not the END) and give it 2seconds ... screen goes blank. You get a quick vibrate and BAM - powered off phone. 1 time it rebooted on its own, the other two incidences it didn't. I have an 8GB M2 as well. I store Themes on the M2 - NEVER had a problem with themes before on Rogers Wireless R1D firmware - and upon powering up the phone after issue above, my personal theme is not set.
Yeah although the W760i & the upcoming W895 (that slim candybar walkman with 5MP AF) REALLY appeal to my lively lifestyle ... I will highly doubt I'll be purchasing another phone for quite a while - including Xperia X1 - I detest Windows Mobile (all current versions)! This'll take me back to S60 - unless the rumors of SE making an S60 device become true.

I don't think i will not be buying an se phone for a long time, i just think the k850 was a rushed attempt at catching up with the competition, maybe to bide time to develop something else. Maybe to test run a brand new platform.
Whatever it was, I think the K850 is still a good phone, yer i've had one BROD and 10+ restarts, but this is good compared to other nokias i've had. People talk about the bad build quality, compare it to some of the phones with changable covers you've had, then say it was squeaky. You need to have some metal on the exterior to not have a squeaky phone.
The picture quality is not the best, but not bad either, it takes far better pictures than the nokia n82. Yer the auto lens cover is simply a show off piece as it has no fuction or purpose.
I think the k850 was simply a trial that will be the guide of what people want and not want for future SE phones (look at the radical design change between K800 --> K850 --> C902) but also think it was experiment to get their new phones right. THat is why I have full confidence in the c902
The K850 IS NOT A BAD PHONE. It is simply below our usual SE expectations, as I think the vast majority of this thread had k800's which were ground breaking phones. I don't think you should abondon them but simply give them another chance. |

Harry20Larry, how long have you had your k850i? I'm just curious what span of time you experienced your BROD and +10 resets.
I'm considering getting the k850i but. . .it seems like there are just so many complaints. .. Kinda frightened to make that investment in the phone if there are so many unaddressed issues.

Should I still buy the phone?. . . .
no.
It's a nice design, poorly executed; like they were trying to do it on the cheap. |

I'm still sticking to SE.
No matter what.
I'm also planning to get C905. I think that one would be better - it has no ring nor lines around the lens.
I have high hopes on that unit.

lol.
I am not going to buy an SE phone until it is 5-6 months from its date of launch. That way I can make sure I won't run into any funky stuff with the phone and let others report on how good the phone is. |

same here! C905 will be my next target after K850. I hope it doesn't disappoint! |

actually, even though it has been reviewed prior its release after 3 or 4 months, I still bought the unit.
My k850 is working almost perfectly fine, but reading some of the experiences of our fellow k850i users, I feel disheartened and a bit urged to discontinue using this unit, albeit its good condition.
Maybe ignorance really is bliss after all...
But still I'm on SE's side. I still prefer SE's user interface even though SE seems to be falling apart.
I'm accustomed to it. |

snipersupra, where are you from? I'm trying to figure out if the less buggy / more buggy k850i's are typically found in certain areas. (as was suggested by Hiron on the following thread):

I'm from the Philippines. But some of my folks here are having problems that I don't experience.
Maybe the difference took place when I took my phone on an SE service center and they completely flashed my phone (a la brand new unit)
@plankgatan
The "skaterboi" pic was amazing!
I recommend you join the World View 2008 contest.
I will be joining the shooting contest as well. |

I'd still prefer an SE model than Motorola.
Motorola phones have some weird designs, IMHO |
