Really? I thought Carl Zeiss had a relationship with Sony since most of their cybershots have his lenses in them. I would think sony could use that licensing to their phones as well.

uhm...what is the difference between "5 MP sensor" and "5 MP camera" ?
Carl Zeiss , are you sure of that ?
Thanks !

I really can not answer as I don't excately. But the SE guys says it is an important factor in the picture quality - N95 for example has a 3.2 MP sensor and 5 MP camera

and YES SURE it is carl zeiss

probably has something to do with interpolation ability of the camera module. it can have a smaller sensor but can automatically interpolate the picture to a larger resolution. Like the K700 for example.

EDIT: This is just my theory. not fact by any means.. unless someone can confirm its truth

So N95 actually has a 3.2mp camera? that can be the case with K850 too, maybe that's why K850 pics are like interpolated K800 ones.

It means it's a 3,2mp camera and then they use mathmagics to produce a lower quality 5mp still. Marketing mandated since megapixel is the only thing consumers recognize as far as pic quality goes.

edit: nevermind the fact, if i recall correctly, the n95 sensor is a bayern pattern cmos.

To me (layman) interpolation = low quality.

just found this

UIQ Developer Fast Track canceled
The events in Boston and San Francisco have been canceled
The UIQ Developer Fast Track events that were planned to take place in Boston (15th and 16th May) and San Francisco (19th and 20th May) have been canceled unfortunately due to a low level of registrations. We believe the low attendance would not have enabled us to provide an event with a quality of interaction and networking matching the previous editions. With respect to the time and resources involved in attending the event, we would not settle for anything less than exceeding the expectation of the attendees, speakers and exhibitors; hence our decision.

We want to create the best environment for our developer community to meet people, interact and learn lots of new fantastic news and details and hence we're already creating an event later in the year that you won't want to miss! Your feedback and help in creating such and event is always more than welcome at fasttrack@uiq.com.

If you have any question, don't hesitate to contact us as fasttrack@uiq.com.

That is disappointing news.

Then again, SE doesn't need the Developer conference in order to announce products; I'm sure they've got deadlines to meet and if it doesn't coincide with some developer conference, oh well. But if they use the cancellation as an excuse to push back Paris' announcement to "later in the year," I'm going to be peeved.

I would like to know too

I also wanted to ask the same question, and I don't believe it's a screen protector. In my opinion, it's too thick to be, and it seems to be built-in stuff.

Fake mobile pictured?

I think you are getting hung up on the term "screen protector." Its not an aftermarket screen protector that you buy to protect the screen during use. It is what SE includes in the packaging to protect the screen during shipping. Its meant to be removed before you start using the phone. All phones are shipped with these plastic sheets.

In fact, seeing this makes the validity of these pictures that much more convincing and makes me believe this is a unit that SE actually put in a box ready to be sold or shipped to someone.

It can be a reflection.

Look carefully, this is not unfamiliar ...my k850i also has that on the back side. It just protects the screen from touching the surface if you ever put your p5i upside down(face down)

You are absolutely correct.
I've had a Mitsubishi M430i, which was interpolating 1Mpx into 2Mpx (it was official info).

when people quote, PLEASE remove the image tag, PLEASE!

Theres no point quoting with the tag still there, just means we have to see the pics 500 times, and those using wap wont be too happy.

thanks

Do you guys think the cancelation of one of the several of those events that take place every year, organized by UIQ (not SE) has any relation with product announcements? Get real! That only enphatizes that SE needs to quicly announce and launch all the uiq devices they have on the roadmap, so that uiq userbase finally jumps to another level, thus attracting more devs - and uiq events wont be canceled anymore. And of course, motorola also has to come up with its own models.
