I don't see anything that special about the HTC touch flow 3D. I looks like it's based on windows mobile, which to me already loses in comparison to UIQ. I haven't seen paris's menus yet, but imo, HTC's touchflow isn't that impressive. |

So ares, pick one based on your opinion of the overall UI:
1 Paris UI >> Touchflo 3D
2 Paris UI > Touchflo 3D
3 Paris UI = Touchflo 3D
4 Paris UI < Touchflo 3D
5 Paris UI << Touchflo 3D
Personally Id be in love with the HTC Diamond right now if they hadnt put that stupid shape on the back. If it would have been flat, clean, like the front, then perfect.
Though if you look at pure solid specs (fine, ignoring the battery life) HTC Touch Diamond is far ahead of anything SE has come up with so far. It beats the X1 because of an interface that actually ISNT detestable. I think it could be out of SEs reach for a while, unless they really do stun us significantly. But so far, it seems there isnt a storm. Wasnt today P1 anniversary, or is it in a couple of days or something?
There was something about the 6th.

None of us seen any Paris UI so WHAT you are asking about??
You've seen only some nice shots of HTC, none of the apps etc...
And honestly, it resembles iPhone SO much, that it's embrassing to watch it.
It's completely ripped, like Copy & Paste.

I just thought because ares replied so strongly he may know something. He might work for SE for all I know, but IDK. It is a rip off, but it looks better than the Iphone IMO; and its got more to it than just the UI in any case. |

Well, i do not work for SE (i wish lol)...i am just stating the obvious...all that we have seen so far are generic UIQ 3.3 menus, made by UIQ Technologies, and not the SE version(s) of it...so, we really do not now how it will look on the retail products...yet...
Wait some few weeks more, and then you will be able to properly compare...

Not to play devil's advocate too much, but Mizzle said a while back that UIQ 3.3 would not feature transitions or much "flashiness," so I wouldn't expect something radically different from the current UIQ 3 offerings. |

Yes but do you really think it will be like that? With such good implementation of the touchscreen? And autorotating? And just smooth to use? And the excellent VGA 2.8" screen, and 7.2 HSDPA? I have a feeling SE will be lacking on something. But I sure hope otherwise!
(At least value for money and battery life are almost always in SEs favour) |

SE really has to impress us with Paris. So far, I think SE has already lost to HTC (not surprising as it's not SE's turf) and unless Paris is close to something excellent as we expect, it will be troubling times for SE.
I really do get angry with SE, what king of incompetence does it take to ruin an excellent reputation with the P800/900/910 and fall behind its competitors technologically.
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD |

SE has done great with X1. HTC have had much more time to develop things like touch flo 3D for WinMo. But UIQ is SEs own, they have to impress us there, or theyre just losing it. It cant look like the same interface with just a pic or two, they have to use this project capuchin to its fullest and make something really special compared to what weve seen previously. Otherwise theres little to keep the loyalty. |

Well, realistically, I don't think that SE is exiting the smartphone market, since it's growing and in next few years it will be one of the cue segments of the mobile market.
All the manufacturer's now are focusing on it (among other segments too).
So now there are only two choices probably:
1. They're preparing serious devices, of which G700/900 is just a start.
2. They lost the direction and all the competition jumps higher.
The option 2. does not seem so possible yet, why? With some nicely tweaked Windows 6.1 screens?
So, there's probably not much time left and we'll see.
The only thing which can be suspicious, is X1/Windows platform in SE house, but it seems this device is mostly for american market.
P.S. If somehow SE will loose it's position/direction, there'll be hard choice.
I think about a "pervert" solution - iPhone 2.......

I could answer the same thing just out of my head, honestly we all know that we're BEFORE, not AFTER, PK.
